[00:00] Hello and welcome to Tools to Create a Better Life with myself, Glenyce Hughes. Thank you so much for being here. I am so incredibly grateful for each and every one of you.

[00:12] This week is all about Tools to Get Out of Control. I know for some of you, you might have stopped listening already. You might have said, “No, I need to be in control, Glenyce! You don’t understand! Stop talking!” I get it—I totally get it, my sweet friends.

[00:37] Control has been controlling me since before I can remember. This is kind of the first piece with control: Whatever, whoever we’re trying to control has control over us. Shall I repeat that? Whoever or whatever we’re trying to control has control over us. I know.

This is such a mindfuck of what we’ve actually been taught—at least, what I was taught. Somewhere along the way, somehow I was taught that the more control I had, the more in control I was, the better my life would be, the better everything around me would be, the happier everyone around me would be, the happier I would be. I’m here to tell you—although I probably don’t have to—it’s the exact opposite. The more out of control I allow myself to be, the more ease, the more magic, the more space, the more of everything that I’m asking for.

[01:50] So, [an] interesting story. If you watch my weekly videos, you might remember fairly recently [that] I actually talked about feeling like a success, and setting myself up in different choices I was making so that I felt like I was a success.

[02:09] For example, choosing to watch the scale. Let’s say from a place of being a success, [it] isn’t probably the best choice because I can’t control the scale. However, I can control—let’s say the marker instead is how many times I go for a walk or how many times I do my workout videos or something like that, because that I do have control over. The scale, I have no control over her.

So, I talked to and share the video about that, and about really setting yourself up for success if that’s something you require. I’ve come to realize, in the past few years, how much that actually contributes to my life. If I feel like I’m successful with something, I’m going to continue to choose it. It’s going to be light, yummy, and expansive in terms of choosing it.

[03:06] However, what I recognized yesterday—Hubby and I are doing a class in stained glass. If you’ve never done this, I recommend it. I actually am enjoying it NOW. I’m enjoying the class NOW. Why now? Because I feel successful. Yesterday was our second class. [In] the first class, the first hour was basically [about] how to do the things [and] some practice. The second hour was getting started on the project that we had chosen.

[03:41] In that second hour, I wasn’t getting very far. Things weren’t fitting together. The project that I chose was maybe a little bit more difficult than what I could have chosen. Anyway, it wasn’t fitting, and I left there frustrated. In fact, I even had the thought [that] maybe when I arrived for the second class, I’m actually going to change my piece because I’m not feeling successful.

[04:09] Yesterday, we go in and I was ready to try it anyway [to] see how I went, and it was working. It started to work really, really well. I was like, “Oh my gosh, I’m feeling successful! This is so good! Okay!” As soon as I have that success, there’s that lightness. I want to do more of it and I want to continue choosing it.

[04:30] I had a lot of space in those hours. I went in early so I had extra time. I had a lot of space in there just to be present with what I was working on, but also things going on in my world. I started really looking at that need to feel successful. Guess what? It’s control! D*mn it, it’s control. Even when I think I’m not doing control, sometimes I’m doing control. It was just this “oh my god energy” of like, “Wow…wow.”

[05:07] I didn’t even realize that that’s what I was doing. [It’s] because when the pieces, you know, the stained glass pieces are fitting together, I’m in control. It’s working [and] I’m moving forward. If they’re not fitting together, I don’t have any control. I can ask for help, I can change my pattern, I can do all sorts of things—but I’m not ultimately in that control energy that I didn’t even recognize it was. So then, I was like, “What if, though, that success—that, basically, is just a need for control? What if that isn’t actually creating the future I desire?”

[05:49] Now, I don’t mean that I should set myself up for not succeeding. It was just this huge awareness of how much I’m still controlling, and that I had really—basically, right down to the bare bones—judged if something was going my way, that was right. If it wasn’t? Yeah, you guessed: it was wrong. [It’s] such a different way of really being present with it and really going, “Wow, what if the pieces not fitting together actually gives me more awareness of how to use the tools?”

[06:28] That’s ultimately—I mean, when it wasn’t working the first week, and then yesterday, what was so interesting was it was working much better but still, there were some conks.

There was a lady that went up to the—so, we grind the pieces, you cut them, and then you grind them to really fit. I kept using the same grinder, possibly another control, another thing of that energy. And then, a lady went and used it. As I turned to go, she was at it. I was a little bit annoyed because it’s two steps from where I’m working. The other one that I went to—because all the other ones over there were busy—was 20 steps the other way. *Oh my gosh, how did I manage?*

[07:18] Anyway, [I] went to the other one. Well, that machine—that grinder, whatever it is, I’m not even sure how the grinders work—is way better. It grinds it so much better, so much quicker. I was like, “Oh my goodness!”

In my conclusion of “this isn’t working,” “I picked too hard of a pattern,” there was no question. There was not even a question of which grinder to use. It was like, “Well, this one’s two steps.” I mean, it wasn’t even that thought—it was just right there. That’s the one I’ll use until she used it, and then I went and use the other one. It’s like, “Oh my gosh, I’m gonna be using this one forever!” Not a question, my friends.

[08:00] It’s just this huge awareness of all the places and spaces of control and of course, I’m not doing just in stained glass. I’d love to tell you that was it but I promise you, I’m doing it in that class [and] I’m doing it in lots of different areas of my life. In those few hours yesterday, I was really looking at “Where am I decided that I need that success? What if I didn’t? What is the not success actually gifting me?”

There is an energy for you, my sweet friends. Right, wrong, good, bad, all-nine, POD, POC, shorts, boys, and beyonds.

[08:40] So, that’s the Access Consciousness Clearing Statement. If you’re not familiar, you can go to www.theclearingstatement.com for more information about how it works. Basically, all of that energy that comes up when I talk about something like this, when I run it, it clears it. [It] starts to dissipate it so that we have more space and we have more awareness, and that’s ultimately what we’re always looking for – [it] is more space and more awareness.

[09:02] Looking at that with every area of my life, it was really magical. What is it gifting me? What is it not working? In Access, we ask the question “What’s right about this I’m not getting?”

In that case, if I would have maybe done that in the first class, maybe I would have found that other grinder sooner or change something else or whatever. Again, it’s still not wrong, the way I did it. it gave me this beautiful awareness of all the control I’m still doing. I mean truly, what a gift that is.

[09:36] So, [here’s] the clearing that I want to run a few times. It is so magical—it is so changing everything control-related.

What energy, space, consciousness, choice, magic, miracles, mysteries, and possibilities can us and our bodies be to be out of control, out of definition, out of limitation, out of form, structure, significance, out of linearities, and other concentricities for all eternity? Anything that doesn’t allow that to show up as if by magic, will you destroy and uncreate it all? Right, wrong, good, bad, all-nine, POD, POC, shorts, boys, and beyonds.

[10:15] Now, that clearing truly has changed so much for me. It wasn’t until a couple years ago that I actually started using it, like truly started using it. Actually, [I] did a call on it. We’ll put a link because, of course, you can purchase the recordings.

But it wasn’t until then that I actually finally memorized all those words. I didn’t have them all memorized, even though I’d probably repeated that clearing thousands of times over my years as a Certified Facilitator with Access Consciousness. I finally chose, like, really chose, to change the control stuff, which I did—which I totally did.

[10:56] Obviously, there’s still some more—which, again, I’m so grateful for—that we can really not go to the judgment. Not “Oh my gosh, I thought I changed that. What’s wrong with me?” It’s not that at all, guys. We just go, “Wow, okay, cool.” There’s still some more.

Chances are this control thing—at least for me, I don’t want to speak for you. But at least for me, it’s gonna be a long, long time, my sweet friends. And that’s okay. It’s not right. It’s not wrong.

[11:21] The other thing that I want to say about control is for you to really recognize that control is not wrong, okay? Control is actually a capacity. It’s just that we’re often using it AGAINST us and not FOR us. We want to start choosing control when it’ll create greater, not when it will create less, which is really with that whole success piece that I was looking at.

[11:48] [This is] when it creates less—when I go, “Okay, well, I’m not succeeding. I need to succeed in order to continue,” that’s a huge limitation. I mean, how many possibilities, how many experiences have I not chosen, not stepped into because I wasn’t feeling like a success? How many times have I stopped because I wasn’t feeling like a success? Then all of my decisions, judgments, conclusions, computations, projections, rejections, expectations, separations, [and] refined judgments that I have about all of that, ignite and then, I stop. Oh, I feel exhausted just talking about that.

Everything that is, will you destroy and create it all? Right, wrong, good, bad, all-nine, POD, POC, shorts, boys, and beyonds.

[12:38] Now, I would love to invite you: we are doing a book club on the Projection Expectation Separation Rejections and Judgments book by Gary Douglas from Access Consciousness. We start, I believe, it’s March 8 or something like that. You’ll find the link below or above. If you can’t find it, reach out [and] we’ll get it to you.

It’s going to be amazing, my sweet friends. That book and all of those that I call the DJCCPSERRJs, all of those are what really limit us and really stop what’s possible. The more that you’re willing to let this go, which will also assist you in letting go of control, that’s where the magic is. So, check that out for more information. Depending, of course, when you’re watching this, it’s always available for purchase after, also.

[13:27] The other thing that I would love to invite you to is the Hideously Successful Clearing. We are going to be running it starting March 2, 30 times a day for 30 days.

Yeah, it’s time to change that crazy. It’s time to be willing to be hideously successful, which of course, also out of control. Yes, not hideously successful while controlling everything. Let’s change it all, my sweet friends, let’s change it all. You’ll find the links above or below, wherever.

[13:58] One more thing, I also have available for you—a gift for you is the Magical Money Tricks. I’ve got a video of 10 of them, I’ve got a PDF of five questions, [and] I also have wallpaper for your phone [with] the #1 question that I think everybody should be asking all day long about money. If you would like that, you’ll find the link above or below, you can go grab it. [It’s] my gift to you, my sweet friends.

[14:26] Back to control. What I want to talk about with that is what is out of control? It is having no point of view about anything. There’s not much there, really. That’s not going to take any work at all. Not work, just choice.

[14:45] Really, if you look at that—having no point of view—go back to my example of the stained glass and the glass pieces not fitting together in my first week at all. Like, at all. If I didn’t have a point of view, how much more space is there with that? How much more ease is there with that? How many more questions could I ask either of the instructors or of the machines, or of myself, or of the project? A lot. Yeah, totally.

I’ve got all this space now to have no point—I’ve got all this space. I have no point of view, which means I have total space, which means I have total awareness, which means everything is possible.

[15:30] But when I’m looking through the lens of “this isn’t working, it should be working”—basically, when we think “this isn’t working,” the other energy is “it should be working.” And now, the energy is contracted. Now, there’s no space. There’s no other possibilities. There’s just my choice for frustration, and all the other ideas of “maybe I’ll change my pattern,” “I’ll do something else,” “I’m not feeling successful.” Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Everything that brings up, will you destroy and uncreate it all times a gazillion? Right, wrong, good, bad, all-nine, POD, POC, shorts, boys, and beyonds.

[16:10] The other thing when you are out of control, no one and nothing can control you, not even you. If you have no point of view about anything, nobody can control you.

[16:26] Right now here in Canada… now, depends on when you’re listening to this because I’m recording a little bit earlier. I’ve got a Certified Facilitator training coming up in the next few days, so I’m about a week and a half earlier than I normally record. But right now here in Canada, there’s truckers all over, especially in Ottawa, Ontario, and also in Alberta, and who knows where else. [They’re] really, really, really getting stronger and stronger in their demand to stop the mandates.

[17:00] Now, for me, I know the greatest gift I can be is to have no point of view. This is not necessarily the most easy to choose when there’s so much right and there’s so much wrong. There’s so much proof of what’s right, and there’s so much proof of what’s wrong. There’s so many, you know, media outlets saying, “Here’s what’s going on…,” and then there’s so many other media outlets going “Here’s what’s going on…” There’s so much of that—there’s so many ways to be invited into right and wrong and good and bad.

[17:36] I know the greatest gift I can be is to have no point of view. I have a preference, I have an awareness. But when I join that it’s right or I join that it’s wrong, that’s where I stop being magical, and that really is the space of being out of control. If you’re out of control, you can be that space, you can be that magic. You’re still going to be aware—you’re not shutting your awareness off, you’re just not controlled anymore.

18:08 This is the funny thing: When you are controlled—when you do have a point of view, you don’t have the access to the awareness that’s actually there. That, actually, is what limits you rather than the opposite of what we think it is. Oh my goodness.

Everything all of that just brought up, will you destroy and uncreate it all? Right, wrong, good, bad, all-nine, POD, POC, shorts, boys, and beyonds.

[18:33] If you are looking to get out of control, [here’s a] couple things:

Maybe you’re like me and you weren’t even aware you were doing it. You could start asking—and this is my new ask: Universe, show me where I am doing control so that I can get reminded all day long, and then I have a choice.

Once I’m aware I’m choosing it, then I can check in: “Hey, does this create the future I desire or decay the future I desire?” If it’s creating it, I can continue. If it’s not, I can let it go. That is, I would say, step number one if we’re going to do them in steps to run that clearing all the time.

What energy, space, consciousness, choice, magic, miracles, mysteries, and possibilities can be and my body be to be out of control, out of definition, out of limitation, out of forum, structure, significance, out of linearities, out of concentricities for all eternity? Anything that doesn’t allow that, I destroy and uncreate it all. Right, wrong, good, bad, all-nine, POD, POC, shorts, boys, and beyonds.

[19:34] Another question that I have been using and will continue to use: If I was willing to be out of control here, what magic could I create? You can look at your money situation, you can look at your body situation, you can look at the stained glass project and ask that. You can look at anything and ask that question.

[19:59] You’re not looking for an answer—in case you’re not familiar, we’re not asking that so we can figure it out. We’re asking that so we are allowing the awareness, the possibilities, the magic, the universe, all of it to show up to contribute to us being the magic that we truly be.

[It’s] because, guys, I promise you, the more out of control that you’re willing to be, the more magic you will be. The more magic you’ll create, the more ease your life will be, the more magical your life will be. Anything that doesn’t allow that, will you destroy and uncreate it all? Right, wrong, good, bad, all-nine, POD, POC, shorts, boys, and beyonds.

[20:37] For anybody who doesn’t know: If you would like the show notes, make sure you are on my e-mail list. They come out every Sunday with the radio show. You can access them right in that e-mail. Just go straight [to it], it’ll just say “Download the Show Notes,” I think or something like that. You can receive them.

If you’re listening to this [and] you’re not on my list yet, and you go and get on it and you would like these, then just send me an e-mail or send me a message, reach out on social media. We will send this week’s show to you. We’ll send you that e-mail so you can grab that Dropbox account because by the time this e-mail goes out, this show is… yeah, you know what I mean? *laughter* The e-mail will have gone out with this show. If you’re listening to it, that won’t be the e-mail you get but we can get it to you so that you can access all of this.

It’s basically a transcript [of] almost everything, not the uhms and the ahhs. But everything else, hopefully, is in that, and I mean hopefully, my uhms and ahhs are taken out. Everything else is in there: the clearings that I run, the information that I give. I know a lot of people prefer to read rather than listen or watch. Whatever your preference, baby, we got you covered.

[21:48] So, one more time for fun:

What energy, space, consciousness, choice, magic, miracles, mysteries, and possibilities can be and my body be to be out of control, out of definition, out of limitation, out of forum, structure, significance, out of linearities, out of concentricities for all eternity? Anything that doesn’t allow that to show up as if by magic, we destroy and uncreate it all. Right, wrong, good, bad, all-nine, POD, POC, shorts, boys, and beyonds.

[22:15] So, [that’s] some tools to play with to really get out of control, my sweet friends. I wonder what magic would be possible if we were willing to be out of control… I wonder what magic we could create on the planet… I truly wonder, my sweet friends.

Thank you so much for being here. I’m so incredibly grateful for each and every one of you, And I look forward to chatting again next week.

Choice and Choosing

Choice and Choosing

Choice and Choosing

What will YOU choose?

We have always been taught to be careful when making decisions, because it can either make us or break us. What if instead of “deciding” things, we can start “choosing” to better find what works for us? Choose, receive the awareness, and choose again. Imagine the possibilities that opens up… how AWEsome is that?!

If you liked this episode, you can now show some love (and support the radio show at the same time!) by Buying Me a Coffee ☕ How does it get any better than that?! I’m excited and would be so grateful to receive a cup of coffee from you, my sweet friend.

[00:00:00] Hello and welcome to Tools to Create a Better Life with myself, Glenyce Hughes. Thank you so much for being here. I am so incredibly grateful for each and every one of you. This week, we’re gonna talk about choosing. Choosing and choice, and choosing.

[00:00:20] Yes, this is a Grinch tuque because I love it. If you can see in the background, there is Hubby and our sweet friend, Lexi. We have been playing with choice and choosing more than ever before, and one of the things that we’ve been choosing is something called “Trusted House Sitters,” which is basically a site where you can go and you can apply to do house and animal sitting around the world.

[00:00:52] We’d talked about it for years prior to Totty, our sweet kitty, passing away in September of 2022 as something we would do when she was no longer with us. We never guessed she would be gone so quickly. We actually started in England. We did one house sit – we had a dog and a cat, and chickens and ducks.

[00:01:19] This is our second one. We’re here in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada and having so much fun with sweet Lexi. She is such a beautiful dog and so playful. Thankfully, the weather has been quite mild here so we’ve been able to enjoy her outside. Even though it might look like Hubby is being mean to her, she loves getting snow kicked out to her and catching it in her mouth. So, there you go.

[00:01:43] We are talking all about choice and choosing. It’s one of the things that I actually talk about a lot because choosing and choice is such a big part of us creating our dreams come true.

[00:01:58] When we first had the chance to look at this as a reality, as a possibility like traveling the world, just trying out different houses in different places with sweet animals to love, it was just from that energy of “I wonder what that would be like…,” not “This is the way it has to be,” “This is what we have to choose,” but like, “I wonder… I wonder if we would like it.” We talked about actually selling our beautiful home and doing it full time.

[00:02:32] In this 10 seconds, that’s what we’re continuously choosing towards with the awareness that choice is good for 10 seconds.

[00:02:43] We’re down here in Lethbridge. It’s about a five-hour drive from our house. Of course, we did one in England which is impossible to drive to, you know, being a flight away. We’ve got another one set up in Calgary in December and Edmonton near the end of November. We’re trying it out. It’s like when you choose, you can try your choice out. This is what it’s like. We get to try it out and so far, we are loving it.

[00:03:10] We’re also receiving so much awareness by choosing it. We know that although we love dogs and we love playing with dogs, we know we don’t want a lot of time with dogs. If you’ve never had the difference between a dog and a cat, our experience is dogs require a lot more like walks outside and all the things.

[00:03:35] Some people might disagree. Of course, if they’re dog people and they don’t like cats, that’s different, of course. But for us, we love all animals and our awareness is dogs are a lot more work. We will certainly say yes to dog sits when it feels yummy to do so, and probably for the longer ones, say months or two months or maybe even three months, probably not going to be for dogs. Who knows? Whatever. But again, it’s this choice. We get to choose, and we get to choose, and we get to choose again.

[00:04:06] This truly is something that you wanna look at in your life because often what we’re taught is that… no, we’re actually usually not even taught about choice. What we’re taught about is decisions. We make a decision. We say, “In the spring, we’re gonna sell our house and travel the world, doing house and pet sitting full-time along with me, of course, continuing with my business full-time, and that’s the way it is.” That’s a decision, and you don’t receive much in that decision. In fact, you don’t really receive anything. But if you’re choosing it and then you’re receiving the awareness, then you get to choose again.

[00:04:43] This isn’t about anything to do with what we’ve been doing so far. We don’t need to have any other choices to know. We would actually prefer to do this in the tropic somewhere, in the Canadian winter. We’re here right now so of course, we’re choosing it locally. We are enjoying winter, which is why I bought a fun little tuque.

[00:05:01] However, what we’re looking for for January, February, March is actually Arizona, Florida, Tennessee, California, those places so that we can enjoy the weather, too. Of course, if you know me at all, you know I’m also looking at places that have pools.

[00:05:19] This is just a really fun way to talk about choice, to really get you to recognize that you get to choose and you get to choose again, and you get to receive the awareness and then you get to choose again, and you get to choose again and you get to choose again, and awareness and choose and awareness.

[00:05:34] Maybe by spring, we’ll be like, “No, we’re not interested. We wanna be at home and get some more cats of our own.” Who knows? Anything is truly possible and the first step is making a choice.

[00:05:47] Now, some choices you can do like we are and get little baby pieces of it, so to speak. We get to try it out, see if it works. Some choices aren’t like that. Some choices, maybe you just energetically choose.

[00:06:00] This is what I’ve been telling some clients this week. Hey, for tomorrow, just live the day as if you chose A and then the next day, live as though you chose B. When we spend a few hours as though we’ve chose something, we’ll also start to get a sense of if it is actually for us or not. It’s just a different way of being on the planet, a different way of trying on choices like you would try on clothes just to give yourself a sense.

[00:06:30] The other thing that I think is so important for every one of us to know and to remember is it never shows up the way you think it will. It never shows up the way you think it will.

[00:06:40] If you hold on really tight to “I’m doing this and this is the way it’s going to be, and this is how it’s gonna turn out and this is what it’s gonna look like,” it’s not gonna be very fun for you. But if it’s like, “This feels fun. This feels cool. I’m gonna choose towards that,” then what else could you receive? What other way could it turn out? How could it turn out better than what you could expect?

00:07:04] I’ve got some coaching going on right now. I’ve called the program Beyond What You Desire Coaching. We all have an idea of what we would like. I shouldn’t say that – that’s not true. Sometimes, we have an idea of what we would like or we have some idea of energies of what we would like.

[00:07:21] However… there’s some dogs barking. I must check. It’s all good. Hubby’s got it.

[00:07:27] When we have that, we go into that space of what we would like. And then if we do it from the energy of what else is possible, guess what? Everything beyond what we desire gets to show up. What if we lived our lives beyond what we desire?

[00:07:51] I had maxed out at 24 at the Beyond What You Desire Coaching. I was doing a beta program. I’m actually expanding that. There’s a link above or below if you would like more information, or maybe you looked at it before and you’re kicking yourself that you didn’t get in. There’s more details about it now, guys, so go and check it out. I would love to have you come play.

[00:08:11] I wonder if you were willing to choose and choose and choose, and be maybe even judged as flighty or somebody who just is always changing their mind or whatever it is that you’ve used to stop you before, what could you create if you are willing just to choose and mess it up and receive awareness, and choose and choose and choose and choose again… I wonder how much magic you could create in your life, in your living, my sweet friend.

[00:08:41] Have a wonderful week and I look forward to chatting again next week.

[00:00:00] Do you do failure? As you can see on my t-shirt, I don’t do failure. Welcome to Tools to Create a Better Life with myself, Glenyce Hughes. Thank you so much for being here. I am so incredibly grateful for you.

[00:00:17] If you’re listening to this as a podcast, I have a t-shirt on that literally says “I don’t do failure.” it was gifted to me from my friend, Monica Froese, and I love her programs. I love her stuff. I love her shop. She is the one who’s assisted me in creating my new Shopify store. Oh my gosh. She sent me this t-shirt and I love it, and it inspired me to do this week’s radio show all about failure.

[00:00:46] It’s something that I would say every one of us, maybe 99.9% of us, experience at some point. What I wanted to start off with was really debunking some myths about failure and then some tips for failure. Not like tips to fail, but tips to really turn that failure around.

[00:01:12] #1. The first myth is that failure is actually real.

I know. I’m gonna do a whole radio show on something that’s not real. But it’s something that we’ve bought as real for so long that it’s worth a whole radio show on.

[00:01:27] When I say failure isn’t real, I mean that when we judge that we failed, that’s when we fail. When something doesn’t go the way we would like it to and we receive that information, we receive the awareness from it, it’s actually a gift. It’s not a failure. To me, the trick of it is when you’re feeling like a failure, what you wanna look at is what could you receive from it. What could you receive from that situation?

[00:02:03] Myth #2 is that whatever you failed at means you’re not cut out for it.

That is such a lie. It could be lots of things. When we group it together and we say, “I tried to run a marathon and I didn’t do it,” it doesn’t mean you’re not cut out to run a marathon. It might mean you require different support. It might mean that you require a different strategy. It might mean a bazillion things. It doesn’t always mean you’re not cut out for it.

[00:02:43] We’ve really got to look at that because to me, it’s a mindset shift where you’re aware of something you would like, you tried it, and it didn’t turn out the way you would like it to. Throwing it out and saying, “No, I won’t do that again” or “I can’t do it” or “I’m not cut out for it” is so unkind to you.

[00:03:09] You could turn it around. Look at what would it take. What would it take to run a marathon? Body, what do you require to run a marathon? Turn it around. Ask your body. It’s your body that’s running the marathon, so include your body.

[00:03:25] Myth #3 is that failure is the end of the road.

That’s it. It’s done. You can’t do anything else. Better not try anything else. Let’s say you started a business and it didn’t work out the way you would’ve liked it to. Now, you have to go back to being employed… no, you don’t. There’s about a bazillion options between A and B. What else? What was it about the thing that you tried that didn’t work for you?

[00:03:58] Here’s the other thing that I know. When we are trying something out or when we’re choosing something, if we are not 100% in, we are really not going to get it very far. I don’t mean that you should force yourself to be 100% in. If you have to force yourself, you’re not. It probably won’t work for you anyway.

[00:04:26] It actually has nothing to do with failure, it has to do with being honest with yourself. What would you like? To me, there’s a level of self honesty required in our everyday life, in being successful in anything. It doesn’t matter if it’s business or anything.

[00:04:45] For myself, I’ve been playing a lot with this incredible — I call it a “magic wand” because I love it. It’s got a different frequency, it does a lot of healing, a lot of energetics, and a lot of magic, and it’s just incredible. I was looking at how to set up a business with it and I had some really cool ideas because that’s something I have a lot of.

[00:05:08] Luckily, I started looking at what that would all entail. To do it the way that I was gonna do it was like going to be a lot. A lot of my energy, a lot of time. I was like, “That’s not really so fun for me.” All of those pieces that were involved the way I was going to do it, it’s just like, “It’s not so fun for me.”

[00:05:33] If you would like information, reach out. I will get it for you and I will still sell them, but I’m not gonna do it the way that I had all those ideas for because I know it’s not fun for me. I’ve done that before. I’ve set things up that weren’t fun for me that seemed like a really good idea, and guess what? They didn’t work out because they weren’t fun for me.

[00:05:57] For me, there’s an energy with that. I don’t mean it’s like I sit around and do nothing and that’s the only way I’ll do business. That’s not it at all. I love to work. I love to work in my business. I actually call it “play,” but there are different things that I don’t love to do and I know myself well enough at this point to know that.

[00:06:18] Self honesty, to me, is such a huge piece of this whole failing thing because if we’re judging it as failure, we’re not being honest with ourself. We’re not looking at, “What of that could have I chose differently? What of that didn’t I desire to choose? What isn’t fun for me that I’m forcing myself to do?” I mean, there’s so many different ways that we can go with that.

[00:06:40] Myth #4: Failure is something to be ashamed of.

Now, this is huge guys. I actually discussed this on the last Real Conversations, Real Change. This is a monthly membership that I’ve got going on, and we talked a lot about shame and how we actually use it to stop ourselves.

[00:07:01] There are times when maybe we personally require assistance or help and we don’t reach out because we don’t want anybody to know what we’re going through. We want everybody just to think we’re great and happy, and everything’s perfect but that’s such bullshit.

If we’re ashamed of what we’ve failed at, we’re not ever gonna receive from it. We probably won’t sit down and talk with people who could give us some insight, give us some awareness, or maybe get some coaching, or go to a class on it, or whatever it is.

[00:07:35] If we just don’t allow ourselves to ever choose shame again and just recognize what it is — it’s just distraction. If I’m ashamed about something I failed at, what does that do for me? Nothing, except keeps me spinning in the shame, which never allows me to create greater.

The trick is to recognize there’s nothing ever to be ashamed of. Shame is just a distraction. What could you receive from that situation? Who could you talk to about it?

[00:08:06] Now, I don’t mean that if you’re going through something that you should, you know, say, post about it on Facebook, because there’s a lot of people that you probably don’t wanna share that with. But there will be people that you could and it could really allow you to grow as a person and grow in further choices in that area that you feel like you failed in.

[00:08:26] Myth #5: Failure is a reflection of your worth as a person.

Ah, stop it! Don’t go there. Don’t go there. It’s not! As I said earlier, I would say that every person on the planet has had a setback, felt like they failed, judged failure, or chose something and it didn’t work out the way that they wanted. Every one of us in one way, shape, or form has done that, so how could it be a reflection of us, of our self-worth?

[00:09:00] I mean, self-worth isn’t something I even usually talk about because it’s so mixed in. There’s so many lies attached to self-worth. But if I was going to define self-worth, the way that I’m speaking about it with this is self-worth is about how you be in all the situations.

[00:09:21] When you’re in a situation where you feel like you’re failing, how are you being in that situation? Are you hiding it? Are you ashamed? Are you playing small? Are you playing the victim or are you standing up going, “Holy shit… well, that didn’t work out the way that I would’ve liked it to. Now, what?” Big difference.

[00:09:42] I know for myself when I have done that. When I’ve been ashamed and tried to hide it and not want to talk about it. All I was doing to myself was spinning in the judgment of it. It was just going on and on in my head, and I did that with, you know, relationships. I did that with business stuff. I did that with friendship stuff.

[00:10:02] I mean, every area of my life I’ve done that with, and only in the past, probably 20 years, that I’ve really been willing to be way more honest with myself, willing to be way kinder to myself, and have that level of honesty with me and not from, “You know what? I was stupid” and blah, blah, blah. That’s not honesty, that’s judgment. But an honesty of like, “Wow this really didn’t turn out the way that I would’ve liked it to. Now what?”

Now what?

[00:10:34] Myth #6: Failure is always a bad thing.

Here’s the thing, guys. If you stop judging — let’s change that. If we stop judging good or bad, like, stopped using those references ever, everything would change because to say that success is good and failure is bad puts so many limits on what you could receive. Whereas if you don’t have that, if you choose something and it turns out better than you could imagine and you receive that, and you choose something and it turns out way worse than you could have imagined and you receive that, then none of it is good or bad. It’s all receiving. You get way more awareness, way more information.

[00:11:22] Recognize that in where you might be judging yourself with that, where you might be saying to yourself, “Oh, I’m so bad. I’m so wrong” or “I shouldn’t have chose that” or… stop it. Stop it. Failure is only failure if you’re judging it. Otherwise, it’s beautiful information. Incredible awarenesses are available when you’re willing to receive from it.

[00:11:47] Those are just some myths that I’ve come up with that really will allow you to start looking at all the lies you’ve told yourself about failure. And now for some tips on how to embrace it, how to really turn it around.

[00:12:03] #1 is embracing those things, situations, events, whatever, that you’ve judged as a failure.

Embrace them. Look at them. Get present with them. Get honest with yourself about them. It will truly change everything for you, because then all of those judgeable offenses that you’ve decided will no longer be judgeable offenses. You’ll be really present with, “Wow, you know what? I didn’t desire to do that, and I thought it was a good idea, or somebody suggested it so I did it” or whatever it might be, or “It was a really good idea. I loved it. It didn’t work out this way. How could it work out?”

Get to change it around you. You get to receive from it, receive all the awarenesses from it, and then turn it into whatever it is that you would like to turn it into.

[00:12:52] Tip #2: Pivot when necessary.

[00:12:56] Now, whenever I hear or say the word “pivot,” I think of the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. episode where they were trying to move a couch upstairs, that it would never go up and Ross kept saying, “Pivot! Pivot!” that’s always what comes to mind so I always have a little giggle with that word.

[00:13:13] Please be willing to pivot. I would say, and I’m gonna speak from a business standpoint right now, this is so necessary right now because everything is changing now. Everything has always changed, but I don’t know about you. It just seems like it’s changing more and more and more. What worked in business even six months ago isn’t really working now. So we have to be willing to pivot and pivot, and pivot, and pivot, and pivot, and pivot, and pivot. It’s not wrong. It’s not failing.

[00:13:46] If you see somebody who’s maybe never pivoted, maybe they have one business model and they’ve kept it that way, and it outcreates every year, good for them! Let’s celebrate them and recognize when we require to pivot.

[00:13:59] If we put our energy into competition or into “Why do they have that and I don’t,” that’s a really crappy use of your creative energy, my sweet friends. Put it into, “Okay, now what? Now what?”

[00:14:13] Here’s a little thing from me to you. If you’ve never recognized that change is what inspires you, you might wanna start looking at that. Now, I can’t say for sure that’s for you, but for most people who hang out with me, listen to my radio shows, come into my classes, all the things, change is what lights us up. Doing the same thing the same way over and over and over and over and over usually doesn’t work so well for us. You’ll only know for you about that.

[00:14:44] The other thing I wanted to mention as I talk about business is I’ve got a whole Business Success Series coming up. Yes. The link will be above or below. It’s just at time of recording, I don’t have it all figured it out so I can’t give you more information but we will have the link available by the time this comes up. You can click on it somewhere.

[00:15:06] It’s a whole series of classes. You can attend one of them or you can attend all of them, whatever you would like to do. It’s more tangible stuff like setting up sales pages with coupon codes, order bumps, affiliate links, and all the things. So, check it out. If you’ve got questions, just reach out.

[00:15:26] Tip #3: Remember why you’re choosing whatever it is you’re choosing.

Whatever it is you’ve decided you’ve failed at, why did you start in the first place? What was the energy behind it? What was the value of choosing it? What were you looking for? In business, you wanna look at that. What is your “why?” If you are creating a business similar to mine, what is your “why?”

[00:15:51] In TikTok, I actually created a whole video and I’ve got it pinned to the top so that if people are wondering about me me, they can watch why I do what I do. We’ll put a link to it here too, if you guys wanna watch that.

[00:16:04] It’s something that really will allow us to keep choosing when we’re clear on that. Now, I don’t always talk about figuring out your “why,” because a lot of times we end up using conclusion and judgment in it. However, it is something for you to look at.

[00:16:23] In short, for me, I spent a lot of my life not knowing, not even realizing there were any other possibilities… like, at all. Once I started, I took a Reiki class back in 2002, and it invited me to this whole new world. I go, “Wow… I want everyone who would like to know there’s another possibility.” I want everyone to know. Everyone who was like me, I would love them to know there’s always a bazillion possibilities. That’s my “why.”

[00:16:57] Look at what yours is in whatever it is you’re choosing, and that will allow you to really choose in those places and times where it feels like you’re having a setback or it’s not working, or you’re failing. That energy of the “why” will totally shift it for you, remind you, and assist you to move forward.

[00:17:17] Tip #4 is surround yourself with people who are choosing the similar experience that you are.

If it’s business, get in some business coaching. Get in some business masterminds. Get in a networking group. If it’s running marathons, go connect with those people that are doing it. Really find the support in whatever it is you’re choosing to really give yourself a boost, so that you can actually succeed at whatever it is or create whatever it is that you’re looking at.

[00:17:50] Often, we don’t allow support. We don’t even look at it as an option. But go back to that myth about being sh ashamed. What if we get rid of that, as I said already, and just choose? Surround yourself with the people who are choosing similar things, experiences, whatever that you’re choosing. That will totally contribute to you.

[00:18:13] Tip #5: Be kind to you.

There’s never, ever a reason to judge you. Ever. Ever. Can I say it enough? There’s never a reason to judge you. Stop it. It’s all about being kind to you. Choosing, receiving the awarenesses from that choice, choosing again. Choosing again, receiving the awareness, choosing again. No judgment required. In fact, judgment will only kill, as I’ve already said, so be kind to you. You will create so much more with that energy than self-judgment or judgment of any kind.

[00:18:55] Tip #6: Celebrate.

Celebrate what you chose. Don’t base it on celebrating only what you succeed at. Celebrate on your choices. What are you choosing? Even if they didn’t work out the way that you thought they would, it gives you way more awareness. Way more awareness.

[00:19:15] Back in 2013, I leased a space in the city that was close to where we were living at the time, Lloydminster, Alberta, and I really did it. It felt super light, super yummy, super expansive. I was following the energy.

What occurred about three months after — don’t even know if we were even in the building yet. We were doing some renos and stuff and I got my first invite to facilitate classes in Ireland.

[00:19:45] Oh my gosh. Of course I’m going to do that, which that then inspired all these other invites all around the world. We started traveling. Actually, back then it was just me because Hubby was working at the time so he wasn’t able to travel with me. I was traveling to all these other countries and there were months that I was paying the lease on this space that I didn’t even use it because I wasn’t home to use it.

[00:20:12] Now, I could have looked at that as a failure. But is it? No. Of course it’s not. Not for me. I had more of a desire to be traveling and facilitating classes around the world than I did to be going home every night.

[00:20:33] We could say, “Oh well then you must not have followed the awareness. You must have just concluded you needed…” No. The one thing I know for sure is that by leasing that space, it actually contributed to my global business. How? I have no clue. I just know that it did.

[00:20:50] The other piece with that is that we wrote a year and a half into the three year lease, and I went, “I don’t wanna do this anymore. This is crazy.”

So I phoned my realtor, also a great friend of mine, and I just said, “How do I get out of this? Is there a way? Can I? I don’t even know if I can get out of this!”

What he told me was, well, he gave me the options and he said, “You could find somebody to take it over completely,” and I’m like… that. I would like that.

Well, guess what? The same day, there was a person who’d previously had that space and had contacted my realtor friend and asked if there was any space in that building available. They took over the lease completely. I walked away after a year and a half. Flew away, I should say, on the airplane.

[00:21:42] Really, this is what I’m talking about. We could put a lot of energy into how much money I spent to create that space and all the time I didn’t use it and all the wasted money… No. I know the gift it was. I know the gift it was.

[00:21:59] This whole piece is really recognizing that you never fail EVER. Every choice you make is gifting you awareness. You may get the awareness to never make that choice again or to pivot. That’s cool, but stop judging that you’re failing.

[00:22:22] Now, I would love to invite you. I’ve got two upcoming Business Done Different classes. Both are available online, or May 5-7, 2023 in Calgary, Alberta AND online, or June 9-11 in Davidson, Saskatchewan, AND online. I would love for you to come play. There’s so many different ways to be in business than the way that we’re shown here.

[00:22:50] Have a great week, sweet friends. I look forward to chatting again next week.

[00:00:00] Hello and welcome to Tools to Create a Better Life with myself, Glenyce Hughes. Thank you so much for being here. I am so incredibly grateful for you.

This show is Tools When Life is Heavy. Yeah, and I know for a lot of people — not even just with the stuff in the world, just in their own world — life can seem heavy a lot. A lot.

And if you happen to catch last week’s radio show, you would have walked with me through some heaviness that I had in my world and all the things.

[00:00:40] Here’s the important thing to know about heavy. Heavy means there’s a lie attached. Heavy means there’s a lie attached. Heavy means there’s a lie attached.

Now, I am not repeating that because I’m forgetful. I am repeating that because most people do not stop and recognize that what we do is we assume that it’s heavy because of the upset attached, because of the story attached, because of all the crazy. That’s what we do. We assume that’s the heavy. It’s not, my sweet friends. That heavy is because there is a lie there.

[00:01:21] Now, it could be a 100% lie. It could be 2% lie. It could be anything. It’s just, you want to check in and you just ask, “What is the lie spoken or unspoken here?” You just need to acknowledge that there’s a lie.

If you are listening to the news and you start getting super, super heavy: What is the lie? No, it doesn’t mean that whatever story they’re showing right now is actually a lie. It doesn’t mean that. It could, doesn’t mean it [but] it could. It could, and it doesn’t necessarily.

[00:01:58] It could be, let’s say, you’re watching a news story and there’s something similar in your life. Let’s say you’re watching and somebody’s had all their possessions taken from them, like their house and stuff, because they weren’t paying their bills. And you maybe feel like money’s a bit tight.

You’re watching this news and all of a sudden, you’re going into your own story of “Oh my gosh, this is going to happen to me! I haven’t paid my mortgage last month and they’re going to come after me! They’re going to take everything!”

[00:02:31] What you’re doing is those lies you’re attaching, that’s the heavy. That’s our awareness saying, “Hey, dumb ass! Stop it.” We want to get to the awareness of what is the lie.

You just recognize that, “Oh, okay. That’s the story I’ve attached. That’s what’s making it heavy. All right.” Stop, and then turn it into a question of like What else is possible?

[00:02:59] Let’s say with the money thing. What else is possible with my money stuff that I haven’t considered? We take it out of the drama-trauma, the story [and] into a question of like What else is possible I haven’t considered? You really want to strengthen this muscle, guys: to recognize that heavy is always a lie.

[00:03:21] This is the bizarre thing: if the whoever-the-power’s-that’d-be were going to come and take your house from you today and you thought about it, it would actually be light because it would actually be true. It’s a bizarre thing, but what’s true for us in that moment is light. What’s a lie is heavy. So, if it’s, if it’s heavy, guaranteed, there’s a lie in there. Guaranteed there’s a lie in there. Yeah.

[00:03:54] Right now on the planet — probably all the time on the planet, let’s be honest, but essentially right now — it seems there’s a lot of heavy. There’s a lot of things that we could put our attention on. There’s a lot of places where we can play with the story, the drama-trauma, the upset, all of it.

The question that you want to start asking when you recognize you’re in story, when you recognize that you’re telling lies, that that’s the heavy, ask: What can I add to my life right now to change this? Because if you’ve got time to play in the heavy, play in the story, make up all the drama-trauma, you’ve got too much time.

[00:04:36] I know that you might want to say to me, “But Glenyce I don’t have any more time! There’s no more time in my life! What are you talking about?” Yeah. It’s not even actually about time. It’s really about the energy of adding more and more and more.

If you’ll notice, like, when you’ve got something really fun or something you really enjoy doing, you always create the space for it. That’s what we’re looking at. How many more of those things can we add to our lives so we don’t play with the drama-trauma, we don’t play with the stories? That’s really—I mean, that’s the target, my sweet friends.

[00:05:12] I mean even this morning, I got up early and I went to the gym ’cause I knew later on, I knew I was recording the show today, I knew that I’ve got more calls this afternoon. I knew the rest of my day was full. If I didn’t go this morning, I probably wouldn’t have the space for it.

Now, let’s be honest. Years ago, I would have went, “I can’t go to the gym today. I know it just won’t work.” Now, I love it. It’s so much fun. I love all the gyms I can go to. I love all the possibilities there that I look at how I can fit it into my day. And that’s a different energy.

[00:05:48] So, that’s what we want to be asking: What can I add to my life right now to change this? And then, follow the energy. Follow what’s light, follow what really lights you up. You don’t know until you try it.

[00:06:01] This is the thing I hear from so many of you. “I don’t know what I like… I don’t know what would be fun for me… I don’t know.”

Of course, I’m being extreme here but let’s be honest, guys. You do not know until you try. So, definitely ask questions around it, of course, like Truth, if I choose this right now, will it create the future desire or decay the future desire?

Follow your awareness, of course, but don’t wait for you to know 110% that you will love it. Try it. Try it, and then you’ll know that choice creates the awareness. We’re often waiting for the awareness so we choose, but that is so slow, my sweet friends. It’s so, so slow. Such a slow way to create..

[00:06:51] I invite you to Online Foundation in May of 2022. You will find the link above or below with more information. I would love to have you come and play my sweet ,friends.

And of course, we also have the Bars & Foundation Pool Party in July of 2022. So again, you’ll find the link with more information and reach out if you don’t see a link or if you’ve got other questions. I would love to hear from you.

[00:07:16] So, when you’ve got the heavy going on, we want to ask: What’s the lie spoken or unspoken? We want to be asking: What can I add to my life? The other one that I use a lot, especially in the last month, is What am I aware of here?

What am I aware of here? Because we can become aware of something, and then again, we add that story to it, and then we distract ourselves with the story.

[00:07:44] Let’s say you had a business and you had a staff member working with you. Every time you thought about them, you started getting like a little bit pissy like, “Oh, they didn’t do that thing I asked them to do” or “They didn’t do it right” or whatever. Let’s say that’s not normally how you are with them or with people.

Instead of going into the, you know, continuing to distract yourself with that upset or going into, “Oh my gosh, what’s wrong with me? Why am I being so judgemental?” Stop. What am I aware of here? What is this? What was the ping of the awareness before you took it into all that crazy about the person? What are you aware of?

[00:08:26] Maybe you’re aware that they’re looking for a different job. Maybe you just popped into there, you’ve got the awareness that they’re looking for another job, and then you turn it into that distraction and story rather than just like, what if you were aware of that? Like, “Oh, they’re looking for another job. Okay, awesome.”

And then, it allows you to actually be in the space of, “Wow. Okay. If they choose to move on, would I like to replace them? Would I do something different?” You won’t be shocked when it occurs because you’re not pretending it’s not occurring if that’s what’s going on. Now, again, you’re just going to follow your awareness with it, but really watch for that spot before you take it into the drama-trauma.

[00:09:11] And this is why I use that question: what am I aware of here? It takes me back before the drama-trauma into, “Okay. So, what am I aware of?” I immediately don’t get words for it. I mean, we don’t always know specifically what I’m aware of.

But for me just asking that question, it changes so much because (1) I’m acknowledging that I’m aware of something and (2) I’m no longer playing with the drama trauma anymore which allows so much more magic. So much more magic.
