[00:00:00] Are you gaslighting you? Welcome to Tools to Create a Better Life with myself, Glenyce Hughes. Thank you so much for being here. I am so incredibly grateful.

[00:00:11] We are currently in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. It’s so beautiful here, guys. I am sitting on our little deck. I really wanted to do this on the ocean, but the lighting is… it just doesn’t work, so here we are.

[00:00:25] Anyway, gaslighting. This is something that we’ve been talking about in this Foundation so much that I wanted to do a radio show about it. Because what we often do is once we have tools to assist us to change things, to get out of judgment, whatever it might be, what I have seen myself do and many, many, many people do over the years is [we] actually use those tools against us, [to] actually gaslight us.

[00:00:57] We’ll say stuff like, “Well, I know I’m the creator of my life and my living, so when that person hit me, what did I do to create it? Why did I create that?” Stop it. That is a form of gaslighting. That’s invalidating you as a being.

[00:01:16] Now, [the] big picture: yes, absolutely. I do know for me, you’ve gotta know for you, but I do know for me that we are the creators of our life and our living. But to look at something like that where somebody hit you, abused you, was mean to you, or any of that, we don’t wanna look at it through the lens of “what did I do to make that happen?” Please don’t do that. Please look at, “So that was shit. What’s required?” It’s pretty simple.

[00:01:49] And again, big picture: yes. I’m not saying you’re a victim to them hitting you ever, ever, ever, but when we gaslight ourself as a way to be more aware, to be more conscious, to be more spiritual, or whatever it might be, that is so unkind. That is so unkind to us.

[00:02:08] It really is looking at when you are talking to yourself basically. What’s going on? What are you saying? What is the conversation? Are you looking at how wrong you are? If so, that’s a form of gaslighting.

[00:02:23] Also, we don’t wanna look for how right we are because that’s also other energies, and it really is never about being right or wrong. It’s really about being aware and being present and never, ever being a doormat.

[00:02:41] It’s this idea that we are responsible for how people act around us or what they choose with regards to us. And so because of that, we’re often looking for what we did wrong, what we did bad to create that in their world.

[00:02:59] That can start from, of course, childhood trauma and we can carry that on. And then once we add some consciousness, some of these magical tools to it, we really, really abuse ourselves with it rather than acknowledging what is. That’s always the first step: you acknowledge what is.

[00:03:16] If somebody chose unkindness towards you, acknowledge what is for you. I don’t mean you need to go talk to them about it. Maybe, but that’s not what I mean when I say acknowledgement. It’s acknowledge like, “Wow, they really chose to be unkind.”

[00:03:33] Acknowledge it for you because that’s usually the first step we don’t take. We go straight to, “What did I do? What did I do to create that? What did I do to make that my problem, to make that about me, to make that personal?”

[00:03:45] So, first step: you want to acknowledge what they chose, and then whatever action’s required. In some cases it actually is to have a conversation with them. [For] some people, that’s not gonna be the case. We really have to be aware at these times.

[00:04:04] I don’t mean conversation like, “You were unkind to me and you shouldn’t do that and you’re wrong!” That’s not the conversation. Sometimes with some people, again, if they’re open to it, if that’s where the space is, it could be like, “Hey, when you said that, what did you mean by it?” You could get curious with it.

[00:04:22] That’s been my experience. The more that we actually go in from a curiosity with that conversation rather than, “You did wrong,” there can be way more space to actually converse about it.

[00:04:36] I had that recently with a friend. They said something, and I questioned them in the moment. There was a group of people around so it didn’t go very well. And so I waited until later when the group of people were gone and I questioned them again about it, but really from curiosity, really from spaciousness, not from defense, judgment, or upset, but curious like, “What did you mean when you said that?”

[00:05:07] Even the second time didn’t go so well. But the third time, and actually it was them that brought it up on the third time, there was more space to have a conversation. There was more space to converse about it.

[00:05:21] Instead of looking at what I did wrong in that situation for them to make this comment, I really just went straight to, “Actually, that doesn’t work for me.” That comment does not work for me, and what’s required? It took three different conversations about it, and that’s okay.

[00:05:43] I could’ve bulldozed in. I could’ve, like, right at the first time I said something and it didn’t go well, I could’ve just kept bulldozing and pushing and forcing. I just was really aware that wasn’t gonna change anything. And in that energy, I was probably going to match it. I was going to be defensive and “you are wrong” and all of that. I just know that that doesn’t create what I would like.

[00:06:06] Rather than looking at how wrong they were or looking at how wrong I was, I just knew we were going to have a conversation about it. It might have taken 30 times, it doesn’t matter, we were going to.

[00:06:19] This person’s also receptive to that conversation. Like I said earlier, sometimes that’s not the case. Sometimes it will be a situation where you won’t actually be able to take it any further for whatever reason.

[00:06:33] But then just acknowledge it for you. “Wow, they chose to be…” whatever. They chose to be unkind. They chose to be a jackass. They chose to be mean. A lot of us won’t even go there because then we feel like we’re judging that person. No, we’re not, if we acknowledge what is in the moment.

[00:06:48] Here’s where it goes to judgment. “They’re always a jackass. They’re always mean.” Now, that is judgment because nobody’s ever “always something.” But if we call it like it is in the moment, acknowledge it for ourselves, that is the freedom, my sweet friends. That is more freedom than you could ever imagine if you’ve never chose it.

[00:07:08] I know this because I didn’t choose it for so many years. I spun in things. I dissected things. I tried to figure out how I created it – what I was doing bad or wrong to make them choose those things. It’s like, stop it. That is so unkind to us. That is gaslighting.

[00:07:30] How to change that gaslighting?

One: start acknowledging what is going on for you. You don’t need to post on social media about it. Just acknowledge it for you. That’s step one. Get out of the idea that it’s your fault, or you created it, or try to figure out — I call it “mentally masturbate” — why you created it, why it happened, all of that. Stop it. Acknowledge what is.

[00:07:55] And then if you struggle with that, if you’re like, “Oh, but I can’t say they were a jackass because they were doing the best they could,” stop that, too. You are, once again, gaslighting you.

[00:08:07] People choose what they choose because they choose it. That’s it, nothing else. I know we love to give reason and justification. I know we love to say, “No, they chose it because they had a tough childhood” and “This happened” and “They’re tired.”

[00:08:21] Oh my gosh. I used to use that one with Hubby all the time. I’d be like, “Oh he’s like this because he’s tired.” No. He’s choosing what he’s choosing because he’s choosing it, and I don’t have to be a doormat to it. I don’t have to judge it either. I don’t have to gaslight me about it. I can acknowledge what is, and then I can take whatever action in that moment is gonna create more.

[00:08:41] I’m gonna say it’s “simple.” I’m not sure that’s the best word because “simple” doesn’t know, yes. But if we choose it, if we just go to the acknowledgement of it and we choose to stop mentally masturbating about it, and we choose to take whatever action is going to create greater, in some cases it might be just that you leave the room. That might be the only action you can take. Cool. Go do that. Go do something fun.

[00:09:09] And then if you go into that place of, “What did I do to create this? What’s wrong with me?” and all of that, just stop. If you’re visual, imagine a stop sign in your head every time you start going there.

[00:09:23] A great question you can ask in that moment is: “Truth, am I distracting myself with this?” You will be. That mental masturbation, guys? That’s distraction.

[00:09:36] As soon as you ask that and you get a “yes,” then you just ask, “What can I add to my life today to change this right away?” [It’s] so that you get out of that because if you have too much time, if you are in any way, shape, or form bored, you will create drama-trauma. This is what we do. We are insane, so we wanna be adding to our life constantly.

[00:10:00] I don’t mean adding more work, or adding more stress, or adding more things to do. But adding – that might be taking up a dance class, that might be having a nap, that might be adding a new business or a new revenue stream or something. There’s lots of different things, but we wanna be in question. What could I be adding to my life today to change this?

[00:10:21] You could finish that question with anything. What could I add to my life today? You could finish there. One of the gals in the class, her name is Kim, she’s the host here in Nova Scotia. She words it, “Who or what could I add to my life today?” I love that because, yeah, how many more “playmates,” as I call them, could we be adding that might be fun?

[00:10:45] With that, depending on when you’re watching this, my sweet friends, we have the final Pool Party at our acreage. Yes, we have accepted an offer and we’ll have to be out of there June 28th. Oh my goodness. So, final Pool Party at our acreage.

[00:11:07] Bars is June 21st and then the 22nd, 23rd, 24th, and half of the 25th — Foundation is now three and a half days — is Foundation. Come and play, guys, and bring your swimsuit because I am gonna be living up that pool every moment I can until we move. So, come and play.

[00:11:26] Just a little recap with all of this. When you catch yourself gaslighting you, when you catch yourself trying to figure out what you did wrong to create somebody choosing something unkind or mean or upsetting or whatever it is, and you go down that rabbit hole, stop. See a stop sign if you’re visual. Whatever you need to do, stop.

[00:11:46] Acknowledge what they chose. Know that it is not judgment. Unless you’re saying “they are always mean to me,” that’s judgment. “They chose to be mean in that moment” is an acknowledgement. Just acknowledge it for you, okay? They chose to be mean.

[00:12:00] Every one of us have chose to be mean at some point or another. How do I know? You’ve been mean to you. Maybe you’ve never been mean to anybody else, but I can guarantee you’ve been mean to you.

[00:12:11] Acknowledge what is – they chose to be mean. Okay. What’s required? Again, sometimes it’s gonna be a conversation. Sometimes there’s nothing that you can say. You just know that that’s not a doorway that’s opened, so to speak. So, what’s required? What do you require for you?

[00:12:28] Maybe you leave the room, depending on the situation, whatever’s going on. But we really wanna look at that unkindness to us that we do when stuff goes on.

[00:12:43] If you’ve been around for a while, you’ve heard me talk for bazillion radio shows about how we’re not a victim. I am not saying we are a victim. I’m not saying that we aren’t the creators of our life because I know that we are. It’s when we use that against us to gaslight us.

[00:13:03] When we put all of our creative energy into trying to figure out what we did wrong or how bad we were or why we created that thing from that other person, no. Stop. Acknowledge what is, and then what’s required? Keep it simple, my sweet friends. Keep it simple.

[00:13:21] All right. Have a great week, and I look forward to chatting again next week.

[00:00:00] Can you have too many choices? Welcome to Tools to Create a Better Life with myself, Glenyce Hughes. Thank you so much for being here. I am so incredibly grateful for each and every one of you.

[00:00:14] This show is inspired on something that is going on in Hubby and I’s life at the moment, which is, as many of you know, we’ve put our beautiful acreage up for sale so that we can actually travel the world without a home to have to come back to, or to be taken care of from a distance, or to be arranging people to stay. It’s very exciting, guys. It’s very exciting, and we have some offers.

[00:00:44] What we’ve been looking at is “What do we do, what do we choose when we leave?” We’ve been talking about this forever, and now that it’s right here, one of the offers would like this beautiful place on June 28. If we choose that offer, oh my goodness, that means in just over a month, where do we go? What do we do?

We’ve been looking at, and our bigger choice around it is to do house sitting and such so of course, that, but also, what else? What else?

[00:01:29] In fact, I was talking to a very good friend of mine, Chris Hassall. He sells real estate in Lloydminster, Alberta/Saskatchewan. If you’re looking for a realtor in that area, reach out to him. I’ve even had him on the show. He sold our other acreage, our first acreage, and he would sell this one too if he could. He’s just not in the area.

[00:01:48] I was talking to him the other day and he said something interesting to me, and I know it to be true for me for sure. It’s that money is a factor when you sell homes, of course, but in his many, many years of experience, it’s actually more the motivation. What he means by that is “where are we going to?”

[00:02:15] When we had our first acreage for sale before we found this place — and we were getting multiple offers over a span of time on that other acreage. When we hadn’t found this place, I was not happy with those offers. I thought it was worth more, I thought they were being disrespectful. I had all these really interesting points of views.

But guess what changed when we found this place? Everything. All of a sudden I was like, “I don’t care what it takes. I want this home. Sell that one. Just do it. I don’t care.” It changes everything – the motivation or the inspiration to go and have another possibility.

[00:03:03] When I was talking to Chris the other day, what he suggested to me is, “You need to figure out what you would do on June 28 when you move out of here to get that inspiration, to get that excitement.”

I was like, wow. I’d never considered that. I mean, I knew we were gonna apply for house sits and stuff, but I’m not sure that that’s the first thing. Hubby and I have been talking about it at length in terms of we can truly do anything, we can go anywhere… where do we want to go?

Suddenly, that’s where this “Can you have too many choices?” Like, is that a thing?

[00:03:49] Of course, it’s not a thing. There are some parameters for us. Hubby volunteers at the Edmonton Folk Festival and has for almost as many years as I’ve known him. I think he’s on, I don’t know, 28th year or something. We know we wanna be back in Edmonton the second weekend in August. We were looking at maybe six weeks of where we’d like to be and go do something totally different.

[00:04:15] And so, kind of looking at it like that. There’s one factor. We know that that’s something. Hubby said he doesn’t have to, but I said, “It’s something you love to do so let’s put that as part of our plan.” That’s one plan.

[00:04:31] The other thing is we started looking at we could go on this huge driving trip. But then if we do that, do we really want to get somewhere and have to pretty much turn back and come all the way back? Hmm… maybe not, so maybe it’s something else.

[00:04:46] We’ve just been looking at all of the possibilities and recognizing that sometimes that too many choices can really stop you from actually choosing. It can really put you in that place of, “Oh no, I don’t know what to do, so I won’t do anything.” Obviously , we would have to do something if we accept this offer. We would have to do something come June 28. We would still be choosing.

[00:05:16] But I would really like to be choosing from the place of infinite possibilities and infinite choice, which is our natural state. It’s just often when we’re given more than three choices, we blank out. Energetically, we skip out. We’re done, because we’re usually given the “either/or.” You can either stay in Canada or you can go to the US. You can either go to Australia or you can go to Europe.

I wonder, I truly wonder, what it might be to always know that we have that infinite choice.

[00:05:56] Even looking right now in terms of what would we like to go do, what’s the inspiration, what’s gonna be so exciting and really inspire us to sell this beautiful place that I love so much, and what is that, knowing that it could be anything. Truly, there’s so many places.

[00:06:16] There was a friend of mine, a school friend, that had reached out last year when she saw us doing some house sitting and such. She lives in Barbados.

She had invited us at the time to come and house sit for them last December. However, I had Christmas with my family booked and I wasn’t willing to give that up. Not even for Barbados. I know! It’s crazy.

[00:06:37] And so I said no, but she’s like, “In the summer, we’re gone also, so if you’re interested…” That’s one of the possibilities that I mentioned to Hubby. Well, Barbados… That feels super fun. That feels like a really fun place to be. She’d also, of course, sent me some photos that were like, oh my gosh. Oh my gosh.

[00:06:58] There’s one of a bazillion possibilities. There’s so many if I don’t get locked up in how there’s too many, or that too many choices is somehow wrong, or even more so that I have to get the choice right.

I would say that’s one thing that comes up in my world a lot, and probably for many of us, is this almost subconscious or behind the scenes energy of “I need to get this right, I need to make the right choice.” Really, it’s such a lie because you can’t make a right choice and you can’t make a wrong choice. You just make choices and then you get to receive more information.

[00:07:45] We may make the choice to go to Barbados and find out that Barbados in July isn’t so fun for us. We could have that awareness, but guess what? Then we’ll never go to Barbados in July again. It wouldn’t be a wrong choice. It would just be a choice that gave us lots of information.

We may go to Barbados and never leave and be like, “No, we wanna live here forever!” Who knows? We’ve never been to Barbados. I have no clue what it would be like to be there.

[00:08:13] There’s so many different ways. If we feel like we have too many choices, if we feel like there’s too much to choose from, get out of the right and wrong of it first, like that there is a right thing and a wrong thing.

I know so many situations feels like there is right or wrong with it, like, there is the right choice with this and there is a wrong choice with it. But honestly, it isn’t.

[00:08:39] Look at all of the things you’ve chose over the years. The things that you thought were the right choices, look at those first. Some of them probably turned out to what you might have judged as wrong. Interesting, hey? Mm-hmm.

[00:08:57] What if there truly isn’t right or wrong? What if you get to receive the awareness, truly receive it, meaning you don’t judge it? You don’t go, “Oh, I made the wrong choice.” You don’t go into the doubting of it. You just recognize, “Okay, I’m choosing this and whatever it might be.”

[00:09:19] Let’s say we choose Barbados. Okay, we’re choosing Barbados. Cool. Here’s the other thing. With any choice you make, you can choose again. You can choose again.

You could even choose as you’re standing at the gate to get on the airplane to choose again. You could say, “Actually, I’ve changed my mind,” and not get on the plane. You could actually land in Barbados and change your mind and get on another airplane. There’s so many choices.

[00:09:50] We also have this idea often that when we make a choice, it’s for always and forever. What if it’s not? What if you make the choice until you make another choice?

[00:10:01] As we talk about in Access Consciousness®: Choice is good for 10 seconds, and then you get to choose again. Ultimately, it’s good for 0.02 seconds. The moment it takes you to make a choice, you could make another choice. There is no “this is always in forever,” even the things that you feel like are always in forever.

[00:10:20] Years ago, I went to school to become a psychiatric nurse. I did work in that field for a number of years, and then I stopped. Then I started this business 20 some years ago. I made a choice.

Now, that felt like a forever choice. I went to college for it, it took a couple years of my life to study for it, I got a student loan and it took me years to pay that off, so that seems like an always and forever choice.

And yet, especially nowadays, but also all the time, they’re good for 10 seconds. They’re good for a second.

[00:11:02] Speaking of Access Consciousness®, guys. I have the final Pool Party Bars & Foundation here at this acreage. Yep. June 21 is Bars, and then 22, 23, 24, 25 is Foundation. Come and play. I would love to have you here. I would love to share this beautiful space one last time with these classes.

This has been just a yearly treat for me to be able to share them and to share this space and these magical tools. So, I would love to have you come and play. There’ll be a link above or below. If you don’t see a link, reach out and I’ll get you one.

[00:11:42] When you are feeling like you have way too many choices, you’re overwhelmed with all the choice available, first take out where you could get it right or you could get it wrong. Just take that right out of the equation.

[00:11:55] And then, start looking at what feels fun. What are the possibilities that would really “wow” me? What are the ones that I would be so inspired to choose towards? Start writing those down or thinking about them, however you process information the best so you can start really looking at what that is.

And then I always like to mix the “woo” with the logic. Then look at what’s required.

[00:12:22] I started looking at flights to Barbados. I had never even looked at flights to Barbados before. It was like, what does it take? Where do we fly from? Could that be part of the plan? Could we fly from, I don’t know, Winnipeg and maybe we take a week to drive to Winnipeg, stopping at different places?

[00:12:40] There’s just so many possibilities, you guys. I wasn’t this excited when I first really looked at it. This whole process to me is really.. [it’s] such a gift when we can get out of the right, or wrong or stop looking at choices as though there’s a right or wrong, and then looking at, “What would be the funnest? What would light us up? What’s the inspiration? Where’s that energy? What’s that?”

And then the logic of, “What’s required to choose that? What are the actions required? Is that feasible right now?”

[00:13:13] Let’s say we were gonna sell our cars. We’re not, but let’s say we were going to. It wouldn’t really be feasible to consider driving from here to Winnipeg to fly to Barbados. Not impossible, because we could rent a car of course, but not as feasible.

[00:13:31] That’s what I mean. You wanna start looking at things, get that excitement, what matches that energy, what’s the action steps, and then start choosing… and choosing and choosing and choosing and recognize that every choice you make is going to give you so much awareness.

[00:13:48] Receive the awareness. This is where people stop the receiving. They go into, “That was a wrong choice. I’m bad. I shouldn’t have done that. That shouldn’t have happened…” blah, blah, blah. All you’re doing with that is stopping the receiving.

[00:14:00] Have a great week, sweet friends, and I look forward to chatting again next week.

[00:00:00] Have you been wondering about some ways to inject cash into your business quickly? Welcome to Tools to Create a Better Life with myself, Glenyce Hughes. Thank you so much for being here. I am so incredibly grateful for you.

[00:00:16] This show is all about different ways to do some cash injections into your business as if by magic. It’s a mix of some practical ways to do it, some mindset shifts, and also some tips.

[00:00:30] The first tip that I have for you is to really look at if this is the way that often shows up in your business where you are requiring a cash injection time and time and time again. You might wanna look at the bigger picture. You might want to look at maybe three months ahead, maybe even go six months ahead where you’re not doing things last minute because often when we require a cash injection, it’s because we’ve not done something earlier on.

[00:01:02] What we’re creating today is ultimately creating our future. It might be the [best] way to actually do some planning in the business. Really look at those things.

[00:01:18] Even if you have a business where you pay yourself every second Friday let’s say, you wanna be looking at in order to have the funds to pay you every second Friday, what is required? [Maybe you] have staff that you pay every, I don’t know, second Thursday, [look] at that and really [plan] it out rather than going last minute, “Oh my goodness, I require money. This is horrible,” and jumping into that drama. It’s usually the energy there. So, keep that in mind.

[00:01:53] But also, there are some practical tips for this. One of them is [for] if you were just looking for a cash injection.

[00:01:59] Let’s say you got a big tax bill or something, and you require some cash right now. Depending on the type of business that you run, you could look at offering a new product or a new service. That’s something that is new, that is exciting, that your audience is asking for, and really inspires them to maybe move quickly with it.

[00:02:25] When we were in England last year, October of 2022, celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, I was running classes and stuff while I was doing it. Our business was going as usual. But as I got closer to the end of the month, part of this was like, “Oh, shoot. I require more money for the business. What can I create?”

[00:02:51] I have other ways in the past that I have done that. What really popped for me this time — it was really interesting — was a brand new creation. It was a coaching program – a 5-week coaching program

[00:03:03] At the time I thought, “I’m not sure this will be what I’m looking for,” but it was really yummy and expansive to do it, so I put it together quickly and put it out there. I think we ended up having 30 people. I opened 30 spots. Initially I’d opened 20, and then it was just so amazing and so much fun I opened up another 10 a couple weeks later. It really went in a different direction than what I had thought it would.

[00:03:31] Back then, I was doing more– I would do a sale to have a cash injection maybe once a month or something like that. Now, I do sales differently. It’s actually more of a strategy in my business, but that’s not for today’s show. We’ll maybe talk about that in another show.

[00:03:48] Right now, in terms of a practical way to inject money into your business, could you be creating a new product or a new service that really invites your audience to something fresh, light, and exciting? It’s in line with what your audience is asking for, but something that a little bit new.

[00:04:10] The other thing that I did with the coaching thing — and I actually chose it this way because I was truly curious — is I ran it as a beta program, meaning it was like, here’s the bare bones, not totally sure how it’s gonna work out. And so I ran it that way. That could also be an option for you if you’re gonna run a new service or something. You could launch it as a beta so that you have a little bit of room to work things out.

[00:04:36] In my experience with that 5-week program after a few people went through it, I realized that I think it was week 3 and 4 [that] needed to be changed up or something like that. I felt more confident doing that because it was in beta. Everybody who had joined knew it was in beta, knew that there might be things [that] shift and change as we go through. Not to say you couldn’t do that if you didn’t run a beta program. It just gives you a little bit more space if you do.

[00:05:07] I would like to invite you to my final Business Done Different class. You can join us online or in Davidson, Saskatchewan. Yes. June 9, 10, and 11.

Again, it will be my final facilitation of Business Done Different. I will not be renewing my Joy of Business Certified Facilitator, which means I will not be facilitating the class anymore.

It’s an amazing class, guys, with an amazing manual. So please, if you have been waiting to take it with me, now is the time. If you have any questions about it, just reach out.

[00:05:47] From a mindset perspective, one of the things that you might wanna look at instead of being in the energy of, “Oh my gosh, how can I create money? How can I inject cash into the business right now? Oh no, how can I pay this bill?”, it’s really like, “How can I provide exceptional value to my audience and get paid for it?”

[00:06:13] I don’t mean you’re asking that question in terms of “what could I put out for free?” That’s not the question in this case. It truly is instead of the energy of how can I get the money, it’s really how can I provide my audience with what they’re asking for in a way that totally blows their mind. That, to me, has such a funner, yummier energy than how can I get this money, how can I inject this cash, how can I pay my bill.

[00:06:41] Even when we’re putting things out there, everybody that interacts with us, whether they’re on our email list or they’re consuming our content on social media, they are aware. Every one of them, whether they know it or not, they are aware. What that means is if you’ve got that energy of, “I’m putting this out there so I can have the money because I need the money and if I don’t have the money, there’s a problem,” every person can perceive that. Everybody gets that energy, whether we know it or not, whether we have words for it or not.

[00:07:12] Really take a moment. When you’re in that situation and not making yourself wrong, not going into judgment that you’re in a situation that you require the cash injection, but really looking at it from a different angle, which is “how can I provide exceptional value to my audience right now?”

[00:07:32] Because I know chances are if you are watching this or if you are here right now, you actually desire that. Yes of course, the money is wonderful and the cash injections are sometimes required, but ultimately, if we were to go right to the core of why you do what you do, it is because you desire to provide for your audience the value and really create a “wow” in their world with them. Go back to that energy because that is gonna fuel you and the creations so much more than this kind of desperation of “I need the money right now.”

[00:08:13] A tip in this sort of situation and actually honestly in every business situation– actually, I’m gonna take it even further – in every area of your life, is to really embrace what is unique about you. Really get a sense of you, who you are, what you love, and be it and share it.

[00:08:36] It isn’t about going and fitting in. It isn’t about being like the other people in your industry. It truly is about being you. It doesn’t matter what industry you’re in.

[00:08:48] If you don’t believe me, go to TikTok and watch some TikToks where people are selling something totally unrelated to them.

[00:08:58] There was a gal I watched, I’m not even sure how long ago [but] a while ago. She was going out on a date. That was what hooked you. She’s talking about going on this date. She was really vulnerable with [that] she hadn’t been on a date in a long time, and had been through a rough breakup so she wasn’t sure if she was willing to and ready to.

[00:09:18] You’re really invested within probably 15 seconds. You’re really invested like, “Man, I hope she does it. I hope it’s amazing.” She’s just a great storyteller. She’s getting ready to go on this date — she’s physically getting ready while she’s doing this video.

[00:09:35] The video was for the hair straightener that she was using while she was talking about going on the date.

[00:09:42] That is brilliant. She was still being her. She was still sharing a part of her life. She was still showing us, kind of opening the curtain a little bit and showing us a little bit of her life and behind the scenes. We’re all really invested that she had a great time. Everybody was probably waiting for her second video because she was gonna follow up with how the date went later…

…and she was selling the curling iron or the hair straighten or whatever it was.

[00:10:08] What?

I cannot tell you [for] I do not know the facts, but I would bet anybody who was remotely interested in that product would have purchased from her. She wasn’t selling and she was totally selling, and she showed up as her.

[00:10:27] When I talk about being you, being your uniqueness, that’s it. It’s where you show up as you. You don’t show up and hold this hair straightener in front of the video and say, “This is a great hair straightener. This will straighten your hair every time. This straightens your hair without making it fuzzy” and hope it sells. There is a time that actually would’ve sold. I’m old enough to know. It just doesn’t anymore.

[00:11:02] Now, we almost need to be romanced. We need to be dated, maybe, in a sense with the person and what they’re selling. That connection with the person is such a huge part of it. The only way you’re gonna get that is if you start being you. You start being your uniqueness. In whatever way you’re sharing content, you need to show up as you.

[00:11:28] Another practical idea with a cash injection is — I spoke about it earlier — like a sale where you put on a sale of something that you have or a variety of things that you have. Or [when] a lot of people do not like the idea of sales, they could do where you add a bonus.

[00:11:47] Let’s say you have a course that you sell. You normally sell it for a thousand dollars. You could put it on sale. You could discount it or whatever – $100, $210, it doesn’t matter. You could do that.

[00:12:00] But if that doesn’t work for you, you could actually add something to it and say, “If you purchase this course by Monday, you will get a 15-minute session with me” [or] “You will get this other course added in for no extra charge.” Something like that. That can create a big cash injection.

[00:12:19] I wanna speak [about] sales for a moment because there’s so many different ideas on the planet about sales. What I can tell you, this is just my own point of view about it, is that you have to do what works for you. You can’t listen to everyone else because everyone else has a different idea about sales.

[00:12:43] For me right now, sales are a part of my monthly strategy. I have a sale that runs every Tuesday morning at 6:00 AM my time to Thursday morning at 6:00 AM my time. For 48 hours every week, something or a variety [of] things are going on sale.

[00:13:01] This is a strategy that I am using. I have never had a problem with putting things on sale. I’m not saying I’m right, okay? I really want you to look at this for yourself. What works for you? If discounting or sales don’t, then find something else. In this way, add a bonus.

[00:13:23] I know– at least my audience, I cannot speak for your audience. My audience loves when I add on time with me. You can add on a 10-minute session, a 15-minute session, an hour session. Whatever you wanna do, that’s totally up to you. But it’s another way to create an injection of cash for something, rather than putting it on sale if that doesn’t work for you.

[00:13:47] Another tip is really to get out of your comfort zone with all of this. A lot of times when we require a cash injection, when we are in that place in our business, the first thing we do is we go to such wrongness of us. We go to how bad we are, how horrible we are, we made that mistake, or we set ourself up for this problem because we put our taxes off or something.

[00:14:14] What if we stop that and we just recognize, hey, I require some cash — let’s even word it differently. The business requires some cash, so what’s required? What steps can I take? What action can I take? Be willing to do whatever it is and then change it if that doesn’t work. If it’s not selling, if something isn’t working, try it again. Be willing to what we might call, and it isn’t, but we might call it “fail.” Just be totally willing to fail.

[00:14:53] I know you probably have heard that a million times and you’re kind of like, “Whatever. Shut up, Glenyce.” But what if you’re willing? What if you’re willing just to try it just to see?

[00:15:05] When you are in business, you have to be willing to fail or you will never succeed. You have to be willing to be in the position where you require cash injections, maybe even in the next hour. Okay, cool. So what’s required? What’s required?

[00:15:27] There’s so many different things that can be done. I’m just kind of touching on different things as we go along, but there’s a lot of different ways.

[00:15:35] It also depends on your business. Maybe you run a coaching business where you are already full — your time is already spent, you cannot see any more clients, but you still require more cash. Maybe something else came up above and beyond what you bring in.

[00:15:51] Okay, so what could you do? Could you create a digital product with something that you could sell? Is there another way? Instead of getting into “this is wrong and bad and I’m wrong and I’m bad,” it’s like, “Okay, so what else?” What else?

[00:16:08] If you’ve been around for a while, I do this really weird thing where I actually chat with my business. “Hey, business. Can you assist here? Can you show me what’s required? Can you show me what you would like me to create?”

[00:16:22] That was really the energy behind the whole beta coaching last October, November. I was curious. I was truly curious as to what was required, and came up with this– I didn’t come up with it, the business gifted me this idea and then I took the action.

[00:16:41] It did take me putting it into words and sending it out to my email list. In that case, I did something even a little bit different than I do a lot of times. I sent it out like, “Hey, guys. If I created this, would you be interested?”

[00:16:56] I didn’t even put much together because I thought if nobody’s interested, I don’t wanna put a whole bunch of time into it and creation into it, but I had a lot of interest. I was like, okay. I created the payment link, got Ericka to do the graphics and all of that, and away we went. You don’t have to do it like that. It’s just how I happen to do it.

[00:17:19] If that is of interest to you, I actually have a product called “How to Get Paid to Create Your Digital Product” because there is a strategy to it where basically you ask if people are interested in it. If they are, you put together just a basic link. You usually put it at a very discounted price or discounted or less price. There’s different steps to it.

We’ll put the link above or below. If you don’t see it, reach out and I will get it for you. It is called “How to Get Paid to Create a Digital Product,” meaning you get paid before you create it. How’s it get any better than that?

[00:17:56] There are just some ideas, some tips, some mindset shifts, practical ways to get some cash into the business right now.

[00:18:04] Remember my very first first tip: it might be [that] planning is required. I know for so many of us, we don’t like to plan. We want to create, create, create. If you could find a way to start planning, I wonder how much that might contribute.

[00:18:22] Have a great week, sweet friends, and I look forward to chatting again next week.

[00:00:00] Have you ever wondered how you could change your deserving so you could actualize more money? Welcome to Tools to Create a Better Life with myself, Glenyce Hughes. Thank you so much for being here. I am so incredibly grateful for you.

[00:00:16] So, can you change your level of deserving to actualize more money? It’s something that is talked about a lot, right? Where if you’re worthy and deserving, then you will actualize what you would like. You’ll manifest what you would like. What if, though… what if worthy and deserving are two of the biggest lies in this reality?

[00:00:42] Yeah. Bear with me. I know some of you might be like, “No it’s not, Glenyce! It’s not! If I just change my worthiness and my deserving, I’ll have everything I desire” and I hear you. In fact, I used to have those same points of views. I really did.

[00:00:58] What I worked at for years was to change my worthiness so that I could have the life I desired. And then, what I found out was it had nothing to do with worthy and deserving. It had everything to do with me being willing to choose it, which means if we look at worthy and deserving, how much judgment does it take to decide how worthy you are or unworthy you are or deserving you are or undeserving you are? Hmm, a hundred percent. That’s all it is. It’s judgment.

[00:01:39] It takes judgment to look at the worthiness and the deservingness, which means when we’re in judgment, we’re not choosing consciousness. We’re not choosing from the oneness. We’re not being all of us. We’re in the judgment.

[00:01:55] Am I worthy? Am I not worthy? Am I deserving? Am I not deserving? I haven’t received what I asked for yet, so I’m probably not deserving. I’m not worthy, so then doing what I did was everything I could, every session I took with healers, every class that I took, every modality I learned, everything was all about how can I change my worthiness so I can be more worthy so that I can have the life I desire?

[00:02:22] I’m sorry, guys, but once you recognize that it takes judgment to decide what worthy and deserving is or where you’re at on the level or the scale, it changes everything because you’ll never create from judgment except more judgment. Once I took those off the table once, it was no longer relevant if I was worthy or deserving. I was just me. That’s it. Just me.

[00:02:46] In fact, let me give you another example that might assist you with this. Do you deserve to breathe or do you just breathe? Is there deserving about it? Look at the people on the planet that have created horrendous crimes to people, to the planet, to all the things. Did they deserve to breathe or did they just breathe?

They just breathe. There’s no deserving and worthy.

[00:03:20] When we take it off the table and we look at, “What would I like to choose?” What would you like to choose? Would you like to have more money? I don’t mean you just on the couch and you just go, “Okay, I’m choosing more money. I’m choosing more money.” It’s not that either.

[00:03:35] I know it can sound airy-fairy and outside of you but if you would like to actualize more money, then you’ve gotta look at, “What could I choose to actualize more money?” Maybe it’s asking for a raise. Maybe it’s getting a second job. Maybe it’s, I don’t know, selling things around the house. There’s so many other possibilities, but we’ve gotta look at the choice with it.

[00:04:04] What I know about myself all those years ago when I was desperately seeking worthiness because it was the “answer” is that I actually wasn’t willing to choose to create the life I truly desired. That worthiness and deserving was an incredible magical distraction for me. I got to put all of my creative energy into fixing something that wasn’t broken, fixing a problem that wasn’t a problem instead of actually choosing what I desired.

[00:04:39] A lot of times what’s going on is that we put our energy into something that takes us off of what we say we would like. Look at this for yourself. Even if you still wanna hang out with worthy and deserving, go ahead and do that. I’m not gonna take it away from you. Just some food for thought here, guys.

[00:04:57] But what I’d like you to look at is the stuff that you’ve said, “I will be,” “I will have this,” “I will create this,” “I’ll actualize this,” “I’ll receive this,” or whatever the terminology is, “… when I’m worthy or when I’m deserving.” Look at those things and ask yourself, “Am I willing to choose that right now?”

[00:05:17] Let’s stick with the money thing. Ask yourself. Let’s say you’ve been saying for a while, “As soon as I’m more deserving, I’ll have more money.” “I’ll make more money, just gotta fix my deserving problem.” Let’s say that’s been you. Ask yourself: Are you willing to choose more money right now?

[00:05:32] Probably most of you will say, “Yes, of course, Glenyce! Of course I’m willing to choose more money!” And then I’m gonna ask: What are you doing different to choose it?

[00:05:45] See? We now go into the actual action of it. This is where a lot of us would rather distract ourself than actually take the action that’s required.

I mean, I put out some linear ideas, right? Get another job, ask for a raise, sell some things around the house. Those are really linear, simple examples to give in a show like this. You might have other awarenesses. There might be other possibilities for you. Maybe you use some clearing techniques so you clear some energy around some stuff. There’s so many ways, but what I really want you to recognize is that all of those are choices.

[00:06:23] For me, I see choice as a verb. Choices aren’t just, “Okay, I’m choosing that” and you don’t do anything different. Choice is choosing. It’s an action. It’s a real space of looking at what is it gonna take to change this, what is it gonna take to actualize this, to have this, to receive this so that you can get out of the distraction of whatever it is.

[00:06:48] In this case, we’re talking about worthy and deserving. If you’ve been in my classes, you know I talk about this all the time. In fact, I just finished a Business Done Different class and this was a hot topic in that class today, which is really what inspired me to do this as the radio show for this week because so many people get caught up in this lie that worthy and deserving are the answers. Once we’re worthy and once we’re deserving, we’ll have everything we desire.

[00:07:16] Guys, it’s not true. The only reason I know it’s not true is that those take judgment. You will never create with judgment. You will create more judgment with judgment, but beyond that, you won’t create what you desire.

[00:07:32] So, I invite you. I’ve got some amazing classes coming up. Access Bars. Access Foundation coming up in Nova Scotia, Halifax — Nova Scotia, Dartmouth, really. May 25 is Bars, and then 26, 27, 28, 29, however many days, is Foundation.

[00:07:51] And then we have another Business Done Different, either online or in Saskatchewan. Davidson, Saskatchewan, June 9th, 10th, 11th.

[00:07:58] And then, Pool Party Bars & Foundation. Looks like it’s a go, guys. We haven’t had an offer on our house just yet. What would it take? So, it is a go. That is sometime in June, near the end of June. I don’t recall the exact dates. But again, Bars & Foundation.

[00:08:14] This is where we talk about this stuff. We clear these points of views. We look at it. We get present with it. We invite ourselves to go beyond these limitations of this world where we think this stuff is real.

[00:08:29] Probably a good 10 years I spent distracting myself, trying to fix my worthiness because that was the answer and it wasn’t. It was the willingness to choose what I desire to choose and get out of the distraction from actually choosing and taking the action, and really allowing myself to show up, to get it wrong, to mess it up, to not get what I asked for, to get everything I asked for, to receive more than I asked for. Like, all the things that we so often limit.

[00:09:06] We go, “I’ll do that when I have it perfect.” “I’ll do that when I have the degree.” “I’ll do that when I have the certificate.” “I’ll do that when…” please stop, guys. What if we actually started living now? What if we truly started living now in ways we never imagined possible?

[00:09:24] Often the question that I will use with that is just truly like, what else is possible here? You know, some sort of situation: What else is possible here I’ve never even considered?

[00:09:35] Because the things we’ve considered are great. Can be great, of course. Maybe not all of them, but the things we’ve considered are things we’ve considered. But beyond what we’ve never imagined possible, beyond what we’ve ever considered, that’s where we are inviting the universe to really show us like, really, show us.

[00:09:54] Universe, how many ways can you surprise and delight me with what I’m asking for showing up with total ease? What if we put our energy into that? What if we put our creation into creating what we desire rather than fixing problems that are unfixable?

[00:10:14] Pretty much every problem that you think you have is unfixable because a problem, again, takes judgment. If you think right now, if as I’m talking and you’re going, “No, I’ve got this one problem. It’s a problem,” just look at it for a moment. Just get present with it right now. Just get present with that problem.

[00:10:36] What if it wasn’t a problem? What if it was inviting you into something greater? What if all the time you’re spinning in the problem of it, that’s the problem? You know? That’s where you’re not going anywhere. But what if you stop and you look at it and go, “What if this isn’t a problem?”

[00:10:57] What is this inviting me to? If I stop judging this as a problem, what could I receive from it? Universe, how many ways can you surprise and delight me with this changing as if by magic? How many ways could this show up that would invite me to me, to way more of me?

[00:11:22] Do you get the difference where we start exponentializing, we start creating with, we start looking through totally different lenses at our life and our living, rather than this is a problem and I have to fix it and I can’t fix it, so I still have the problem and I can’t ever change it because I have this problem and I can’t fix it and… it’s crazy.

[00:11:45] What if instead, you start looking at what you could be choosing, what action you could be taking, if you would like to have more money, more cash, more wealth in your life? What is required? What action can you take today to actualize it? Who could you talk to today? Where could you go today?

[00:12:08] Get really, really curious. Get really, really open to the possibilities and allow the universe to show you and invite you to the magic and the possibilities of you that you never even knew were possible.

[00:12:25] Again, I invite you a couple different Bars & Foundation classes: Nova Scotia, Alberta, Pool Party — pack your suit, and then of course, Business Done Different, either Davidson, Saskatchewan, or online. I would love to see you somewhere, on Zoom, or in person. I’m so incredibly grateful for you. Have a fabulous week, and I look forward to chatting again next week.

[00:00:00] A weird tool to transform your body. Welcome to Tools to Create a Better Life with myself, Glenyce Hughes. Thank you so much for being here. I am so incredibly grateful for each and every one of you.

[00:00:14] Yeah, a weird tool. Now, you guys know if you’ve been around here for a while, I share weird tools all the time. This tool is also weird. Maybe even the weirdest. No, I’ve actually talked about this tool before in lots of different ways because this tool you can utilize in so many different ways, not just transforming your body.

[00:00:34] Now, I would like to invite you to a $10 Clearing the Presumptive Realities and Needs of Reactive Realities of Transforming Your Body. Yes. The link is above or below. If you don’t see a link, reach out and I will get it to you.

[00:00:51] The tool is to acknowledgize, which isn’t really a word, but it is. To acknowledgize how much you have already transformed your body.

[00:01:02] For myself, I have transformed my body continuously. It’s just that I really have only saw it as transforming my body when I was getting smaller, and I was wrong and horrible and bad when I was getting bigger.

[00:01:20] It’s really recognizing that every time our body changes, we’re transforming it. It’s really working more consciously with what we would like to choose, with what we would like to actually transform it as.

[00:01:36] Not even just what we would like, but our bodies are a co-creation. They’re something that with us. Being, as I call, a Bossy Bosserson with our body isn’t going to create much. Maybe more struggle, but actually communing with your body and involving your body and saying, “Hey, body, what would you like to look like?” because this isn’t something that is just what I would like her to look like. She’s what she looks like, so I get to give her a voice. I get to ask her, “Hey, body, what would you like to look like?”

[00:02:15] In fact, the very first time I did this, it was my very first Foundation class that I attended back in September of 2011. The facilitator shared with us how to do this which was very simple: go out to a public place, sit there, and ask your body to show you what she would like to look like, and so I did. I went to a restaurant and I just asked my body to show me.

[00:02:36] I had really big conclusions that that would be a size 2 or a size 4. I’m very short. I know I don’t look like it on radio or on tv, but I’m about 5 feet tall. If you look at the height list and weight list at the doctor’s office, you’re supposed to be about 110 pounds at this height, so I kind of always had this idea. It’d be like a size 4 or size 6 or something like that if I was the right weight. And so I kept waiting for a body to walk in that looked like what I had concluded my body would be interested in looking like.

[00:03:12] As I was sitting there and I was like, “Body, show me. Body, show me,” this woman came in and she was probably a size 14 and my body just got so excited. There was such a lightness. There was such a yumminess. I’m like, “Oh my gosh, she’s beautiful,” and I was like, “What? How could this be? That’s impossible.”

[00:03:33] Now, I wasn’t that size at the time. I was, I’m not even sure, maybe a 22 or something like that. I’m quite a bit bigger than that, but even that felt so doable compared to the conclusion that I should be a size 4 or 6 or something like that.

[00:03:51] It really opened my eyes to what I had always projected onto my body, like that she had to look what the doctor’s office would say that I should look like. No, that isn’t what she would like. That’s where you really want to start when you’re looking at transforming your body.

[00:04:08] Start by including your body. “Hey, body, what would you like? What would you like to look like?” Go somewhere in public and ask her to show you, or him to show you, or it to show you. Not all of them are he or she, could be an it. However you refer to it, ask it. “Show me.”

[00:04:27] If you have really big points of views about it, like… I actually don’t even remember. I remember being shocked and I remember being excited, I think probably more so than anything, but also probably I did have some points of views because it was still not perfect from this reality. You could really look at that.

[00:04:45] You could really look at, let’s say, your body is asking for four sizes bigger or 20 pounds heavier than what you think and you have points of views about that. Look at that. Are they actually yours? Have you decided that there’s something that occurs on the planet if you… you know, maybe you’ve always wanted to weigh 140 pounds and if you hit 140 pounds then, I don’t know, gold spurts from the ground or something? Start looking at that.

[00:05:12] You might have heard me a couple year ago — well, actually last year — because I really wanted to weigh under 200 pounds by the time of my 50th birthday. I was talking to a fellow facilitator and she “Well, then what? If you weigh under 200 pounds by your 50th birthday, then what?” and I was like, oh my gosh, I’d be so happy.

Guess what she said?

“Why don’t you just choose happy?”

What?! Oh, I cannot tell you the pressure that took off, the space it gave me.

[00:05:47] Also sometimes, we make the look of our body, the shape of our body, or the weight of our body really significant. If our body is asking to transform and it is asking to be different, then yes, absolutely play with it. Have fun with it. Create it from lightness. Ask it what it would like. “Show me, body.”

[00:06:08] For me years ago, my body showed me something called “alternate day fasting.” Now, this is not for everybody. My body loves it. My body loves it to this day. This is 3 and a half years later. I don’t do it all the time. For a few years, I did it pretty much consistently. Now, it’s a little bit more fluid. There’s a little bit of times where I eat every day for weeks and then go back to alternate day fasting, and there’s all sorts of things.

[00:06:39] That to me really comes with communing with our body, allowing our body to give us the information that it would like because just like us, we don’t probably wanna do the same thing every day, all day long. Our bodies don’t really have that same desire, either. Our body likes change and shifting things up and really recognizing that there’s so many other possibilities out there. So, ask your body to show you.

[00:07:05] It took my body, well, no. My body showed me, but it took me months to actually really receive what it was showing me. It started off in, I think it was September of 2019 when I sat down with a friend who had been doing extended fasting, meaning she was fasting for 30 days at a time. No, I have not chose that. I don’t know that body would ever be interested. Who knows? But I met with her in September of, I think it’s 2019, and then, I had a couple more things go on.

[00:07:36] It wasn’t until January of 2020 when I actually chose alternate day fasting, and that was really cool. I picked up a book from the library. It was the only book on weight loss there because it was January, but also because it was the one I needed, which then led me to another book, which then got me to alternate day fasting. It took me a while to receive from my body, but I got there. I got there.

[00:08:01] But then also not making it be, “Okay, here’s the result. I’m alternate day fasting so I must lose weight,” because that’s not it either. If we’re doing something just to lose weight, that might not work. I’m not saying it won’t, but it might not or it might not stay. Maybe we lose the weight, but we might gain it again because we’ve put the result in that number rather than what is it we’re looking for.

[00:08:29] In my case, as we know, happiness. What if we just choose happy? What a novel concept. What if we just allow it to be total magic? Really, that’s where we can be. When we allow our body to commune with us, we give it a voice. We let it say what it would like, and we co-create with it, then we can transform with it. We’re not necessarily transforming it because that almost takes over the control, so to speak. It really is transforming with it, allowing it to choose and and shift and all the magic that’s there, you know?

[00:09:10] We go back to the weird tool of acknowledging how much we’ve transformed. We transform our body every day. If you were to take a measurement of your waist every day, it’s going to be different every day. Probably, possibly, very likely, because you’re transforming it every day.

[00:09:27] So, what could you create if you included it and allowed it to transform with you into what it’s asking to be without a point of view of what it should be asking for? “Oh, it should want this. It should want that. It should want to weigh 110 pounds because that’s what the doctor office chart says.” Yeah. My body has no interest in that. At least not yet. Maybe at some point, it does.

[00:09:51] In fact, even acknowledgizing that we are the co-creators of our bodies can really start to shift things. Most often we walk around with this point of view that it’s happening to us. Our body shape and size is just happening to us. We have no choice in it. We have no say in it. What if we do? What if we do? We have the ability to commune with our body. We have the ability to ask it questions, the ability to allow it to guide us, and to take the actions that it’s asking for. We have that. We actually have a lot.

[00:10:28] We are the co-creators of our body. We’re not necessarily the creators of our body. We can be, but I like the energy of co-creator because it’s a totally different space. I’m co-creating with my body with what she would like to be like on the planet.

[00:10:46] It is a dance of being aware of where I’m deciding for her, I’m projecting onto her. “You are too big, you’re too this, you’re too that.” no. What if… what if there’s no “too”? What if there just is? If your body doesn’t like it, then give it the voice for you to co-create, to change it, to transform with it.

[00:11:14] Yeah, right? It totally changes the energy because then we’re not the superior bitch or bastard where we’re telling it, we’re being the Bossy Bosserson saying, “This is the way you need to be. This is what you need to look like. This is where you’re wrong. You’re wrong, you’re wrong!” It’s like, oh gosh.

[00:11:29] I wonder sometimes if all that wrongness that I’ve put on my sweet body sometimes adds to the things that I think shouldn’t be going on. How much heavy energy is wrongness? Uh, all of it! Wrongness is a hundred percent heavy energy. When we put heavy energy onto our body, how may that show up? Hmm. Yeah. Maybe heaviness.

[00:11:57] So the weird tool – acknowledgize how much you’re already transforming your body every day, all day.

[00:12:05] Now, how can you start transforming it in the way that your body is asking to be transformed? That’s where the communion comes in. That’s where the asking comes in. That’s where the co-creation comes in. That’s where the allowance of whatever she would like or he would like comes in. The actions that’s required, clearing the points of views about the things that it says it would like that you might think, “Oh, that’s crazy!” like myself all those years ago with alternate day fasting.

[00:12:30] I had such interesting points of views about food and what I needed food for, and how much food I needed, and when I needed food. Oh my gosh, it was exhausting. But let me tell you, once I cleared those points of views, total ease and joy and glory.

[00:12:44] Once again, I invite you to my $10 clearing call to clear the presumptive realities and the needs of reactive realities, keeping you from transforming your body.

[00:12:57] Have a great week, sweet friends. I look forward to chatting again next week.

[00:00:00] I’ve been in business over 20 years, and there is one mistake that I have made. I would actually call it my biggest mistake in business, and I’ve made it way more than just once.

[00:00:13] Welcome to Tools to Create a Better Life with myself, Glenyce Hughes. Thank you so much for being here. I am so incredibly grateful for each and every one of you.

[00:00:23] This is an intro to my upcoming Business Success Training Series. We have five different trainings. You can choose one, you can choose a few, or you can choose all of them. If you were to choose all five of them, you also get a 15-minute session with me.

[00:00:40] So, the five different trainings. There’s one on turning strangers into clients. There is one on increasing the sales. There’s one on creating content. There’s one on repurposing that created content. There’s one on creating affiliates in your business, but also being an affiliate for other people.

[00:01:01] Again, there’s five different ones. Choose one, choose a few, or choose them all and get the extra bonus. You can find the information above or below. If you don’t see it, reach out and I’ll get it to you. If you’re listening to this via podcast, it is all in the show notes or of course, in an email from me, or reach out and I’ll get it to you.

[00:01:17] So, the biggest mistake that I have made in business over and over and over. Yeah, I know. Maybe you’re doing this, too. It’s gifting content — gifting goodies, whatever you want to call it — without asking for something in return.

[00:01:40] Meaning if I have an audio — let’s say, a clearing loop that I would like to gift somebody, a group of people, or all you listeners — in the past, what I would do is say, “Here’s the Dropbox link. Go and grab it!”

[00:01:58] Now, that’s very kind of me. However, guys, when we are doing business, when we are in business, when we are running a business, please, run a business! Please, which means you still give that gift, but you actually request something in return.

[00:02:18] What we call it is “opt-ins” where we opt in. Now, if I’m going to gift you a clearing loop, I’m going to send you to a page where you opt in, meaning you put your email address and your name, and then you’ll get into my email system and it will send you an email with the gift.

[00:02:36] Now, you don’t have to do it. I call it my biggest mistake because it truly did limit what was actually possible with regards to growing my list.

[00:02:46] What a lot of people don’t recognize in business and unfortunately, a lot of people don’t recognize it until they go through this is that all your social media stuff isn’t yours. Facebook can close your account tomorrow. It can close it in the next moment with no explanation, with nobody to talk to to get it back there. WhatsApp, TikTok, or any of the social media platforms that we all use and love, they can go away. The only thing that you actually have, I’m gonna say control over is your email list. That’s it.

[00:03:26] All the years, I was just gifting and gifting and gifting and gifting. Great, except for what might have been created had I been gifting and receiving — yes, it’s a two-way street, guys. It really is.

[00:03:44] I would say, for myself, the energy behind not having opt-ins and all of that was more from actually two things: (1) I didn’t know how to do it, and (2) it was really a valuing of me thing. It was really that I didn’t really value me so I just wanted to give away, give away, give away, hoping that somebody liked it rather than valuing me, valuing the time it took to put together the gift it was, the gift I be, and asking for something in return.

[00:04:18] In lots of cases in business, the ask in return is money. It’s different than what I’m talking about right now, which is opt-ins, but a lot of it is. “Here, I will give you this if you pay this,” and that’s the gifting and receiving. With what I’m talking about here, it’s the free content we’re putting out there.

[00:04:36] You could even say that with this radio show. I’ve never really seen my radio show as something that people would need to opt in for. That would be very difficult. I wouldn’t be able to have it on all the platforms like Spotify, iTunes, and all the places it is. I couldn’t have that if people needed to opt in for it.

[00:04:57] What I do a lot on this show is I either talk about my offers that I have coming up like I did at the beginning of this show, or I have a gift that people require to go opt in. That’s really the energy behind it is really that gifting and receiving.

[00:05:14] There’s lots of people that listen to the show that I’ve never had on my email list and probably never will, and that’s not right or wrong. I don’t sit back and go, “I’m gonna stop the show.” It’s not that. It’s never from this reality of giving and taking where I have to give this and then I will take there email address, or they have to give me their email address so they can take it. It’s not that. It truly, to me, is a gifting and a receiving, and in that gifting and receiving is something, as I’m gonna say, logical as an opt-in.

[00:05:49] If you’re like me and you didn’t know what an opt-in is or how to create one, there’s so many things out there nowadays that make it so much easier. I have recently switched from Infusionsoft. I used that for years and years and years and years, and I switched to something called ConvertKit.

[00:06:06] ConvertKit makes it so easy. They have landing pages. They have the opt-in forms. You simply design it, put it out in the world, and then it collects, and then you can email from there. Infusionsoft had the same, and there’s so many out there. I don’t even know all of the different platforms out there that have these things, but there’s so many so it’s very, very easy now to do that.

[00:06:31] This is where you want to look at if you’re not doing that. If you’re just consistently giving away free content, is it possibly time to change that because what is it you’re gifting it for?

[00:06:46] You could say you’re gifting it to be nice, and so people have the thing and they can change their life with the thing or they can do whatever with the thing. You can, totally. Totally. That’s awesome, except then you’re probably not in a business. Ouch! I don’t mean to judge that as you are or you aren’t. If you have opt-ins, you are. If you don’t, you’re not. I don’t mean it like that.

[00:07:06] But really, recognize that when you are gifting goodies, whatever goodies they may be, whether they’re audio downloads, video downloads, patterns, templates, or whatever, what is it that you would like in gifting that? If it’s just gifted away so people utilize it, cool. That’s awesome. Nothing wrong with that. It just won’t grow your business in the way that it could.

[00:07:33] That’s when I talk about the biggest mistake I made when I look at that. I probably didn’t start using opt-ins honestly until, oh boy… I bet it would be 2015, 2016. I know, right? Remember I showed up my business in 2002?

[00:07:50] For a few of those years, opt-ins weren’t even really a thing. If they were, they were so much more difficult to create because we didn’t have the different platforms that we have now. But even in 2010 and on, I could have easily been. When I started using Infusionsoft back in, I think 2013 or 2014, I could have very easily been, but I didn’t. There was this, “Oh my gosh, I should just give it away for free.”

[00:08:14] I believe it was last year or the year before. Let’s say 2021. I did this whole beautiful Magical Money Tricks or something and there’s a video. It’s a beautiful opt-in. People did have to opt in for it, but it didn’t go anywhere, meaning they got the email with the gift and that was it.

[00:08:38] This is the other part with opt-ins, guys. Yes, create an opt-in, something that lights you up, but also make sure it invites people to something else with you. There’s different pieces with that. If this is a brand new concept to you, at least get your opt-ins. Please, get your opt-ins.

[00:08:56] If you’re not familiar and you would like more, that is the very first class we’re doing in the Business Success Trainings. It’s really working with opt-ins and the funnels, the sequences behind them, the emails that go out. Once they get the free thing, then what do they get, then what do they get, then what do they get, whatever that might look like, because there’s more to it than just gifting free things and hoping somebody comes to your class or somebody buys your thing.

[00:09:21] There’s so much more to it. I don’t mean more in terms of form and structure like, you do this and you send out this email after two days and you send this. It’s not that. It’s a totally different spaciousness with the stuff that works.

[00:09:35] I will tell you — opt-ins work. Yes. There will be people that opt in, get the free thing and opt out right away. That’s totally cool. They’re not your people anyway. They’re just people that want to take. Nothing wrong with that, but that’s what they’re doing. Cool. The other people though, it becomes an invitation.

[00:09:52] They might watch my video about the money tricks. We’ll put a link above or below if you didn’t grab it when it came out a couple years ago. It’s still brilliant. Now, it actually leads to my upcoming Foundation classes, Bars and Foundation. I got one in Nova Scotia. Oh my gosh, guys. It’s at the end of May. And then of course, the Pool Party. The final Pool Party Bars and Foundation in June.

[00:10:14] The link for that will be above or below also, but that is where it leads right now. People opt in there, they get an invitation to these upcoming classes, and then there’s a couple of follow up emails with that.

[00:10:27] It really is looking… it’s kind of working backwards, actually. You look at what you would you like to invite people to and work backwards.

[00:10:38] I’d like to invite people to Foundation. In my case, I have so many free things out there. I have so many, and they’re all been changed to opt-ins so that’s exciting. Over the years, I have done that so I don’t necessarily have to make a new thing. You might have to, that’s totally cool, too. The class will assist with how to choose that. But then you work backwards in terms of, “Here’s what I’d like to invite people to. What’s the invitation to that?”

[00:11:03] In my case with a Foundation, that’s pretty simple because in Foundation we talk about a lot of things, money being one of them. I share lots of money tools in it. Looking at all my free opt-ins, this money tool one made the most sense. Yes. So, working backwards. If I didn’t have it, then I could have created it and it can be anything.

[00:11:22] Now, just a little tip for those of you who are at this stage in your business. I do a little bit longer ones. However, really the ones that have the best opens and utilizations are PDFs.

[00:11:39] I know. It’s weird because you think that, or at least I think, that something like a video would have more. But the studies are, and again, this is logical but it doesn’t have to be, but the studies are for a lot of people, they want a quick win. They wanna open up the email, open up the PDF, get whatever from it, and then carry on.

[00:12:00] It doesn’t have to be where you record a video and you do a bunch of editing and all of that. It can be a simple PDF that maybe has a pretty picture on it and whatever the information is, and that’s it. It doesn’t have to be difficult. But really, start looking at all of this. If you’re like I was and you’re just giving a bunch of stuff away for free, then start looking. One, what is that for you?

[00:12:26] And if it’s time, maybe get an opt-in in place. Maybe get something like ConvertKit. Again, I speak very highly of it. I’m actually fairly new to it because again, I was with Infusionsoft for years, but ConverKit is incredible. Incredible. I’m switching over completely from Infusionsoft to ConvertKit because of how much I love it and how much more easy it is to actually use. So, something like that where you can have the landing page.

[00:12:55] You don’t need a whole webpage of your own, which is great if you have that. I have that, of course. I’ve had it for years. But you wouldn’t have to. ConvertKit would give you that landing page. It would give you the opt-in form so then when people say yes to it, now you’ve got a place where you can set up the emails. It has the download or the download link or whatever it is.

[00:13:14] It’s just so incredible what magic can be created with a little bit of planning, I’m gonna say? That could also be part of, for me, why I didn’t do it for years. I just love creating content. You know that. If you’ve been around here for any time, you know I love creating content. Why? Because I do it all the time. I do it all the time.

[00:13:39] But you really want to look at where would you like to be sending people. What’s the call to action? That’s an official term. What’s the call to action in that?

[00:13:47] I have done, I would say, really well with my radio shows over the years. Podcasts, whatever you call them. And then in the past few years, we changed them, not changed them, we added video to them so they’re in more places. I would say I, 95% of the time, have a call to action.

[00:14:02] This one, of course, is the Business Success Trainings or Foundation. But pretty much every show I do has a call to action in it so people don’t need to opt in to listen to the show, but there’s other information that I have. I’m inviting people to something. Looking at that with what you’re creating and what is it you’d like to be, it’s inviting people too and start working backwards.

[00:14:25] I would love to invite you to come and play in the Business Success Trainings. Guys, this is all very, very hands-on, very let’s-get-it-done, very much let’s create the business success that your business is asking for. Yes. All right.

[00:14:44] Have a great week and I look forward to chatting again next week.
